Wood's Homes Lethbridge is excited to be partnering with the Community Engaged Learning Program - an opportunity provided through the University of Calgary Cu***ng School of Medicine and University of Lethbridge Southern Alberta Medical Program that helps future physicians better understand and appreciate the lived experience of people in the communities they serve. 💚

We are honoured to be co-educators in shaping the knowledge and skills of our future health workforce, and are looking forward to having 2 students join us in January!

Every year on October 10, World Mental Health Day is recognized. This year, the theme is ‘Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.’

Today we’re reminded that meaningful change starts with listening to the people who know their experiences best, and at Wood’s Homes, we believe every child, young person and family deserves to feel heard, understood and supported. By creating space for people to share their perspectives and be active participants in their care, we can build more compassionate, responsive and inclusive mental health supports. 💚

Last weekend we celebrated a night of community, connection, and hope under the city lights at our Never Give Up Gala in Lethbridge. 💫

We celebrated the incredible impact our programs and staff have on children, young people, and families across the community, while also announcing a major commitment to expand and enhance our Lethbridge programs and facilities - more information to come. 👀

For National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we gathered at our Bowness Campus for an afternoon of unity and reflection to honour Residential School Survivors and their families, and to remember the children who never returned home.

Guided by the wisdom of Elders and Knowledge Keepers, the afternoon included a Pipe Ceremony, art, gathering and feast, and ribbon tying with staff and clients. Reflecting on our journey at Wood's Homes, we remain steadfast in our commitment to listen, learn, and walk alongside Indigenous communities in ways that create real, lasting change and culturally informed care. 🧡

Are you or someone you care about struggling with suicidal thoughts or su***de attempts?

Wood's Homes Eastside Community Mental Health Services has partnered with CMHA Alberta and Centre for Su***de Prevention and Centre for Su***de Prevention to offer Skills for Safer Living — a 4-week psychoeducational group designed to help youth and young adults make sense of what they’re experiencing and learn practical, life-saving skills to stay safe.
