The Energized Woman Holistic nutrition & health support for women struggling to beat chronic fatigue. Hi, I'm Daina, an uncomplicated Holistic Nutrition Consultant.

I help busy women who are struggling with chronic fatigue, extremely low energy, stubborn tummy fat and terrible sleep balance their hormones so that they can stop feeling overwhelmed by their complex range of confusing (yet very real) symptoms. I coach women to choose the right foods to promote amazing sleep, abundant energy (like, so much you don't know what to do with it all!), and transform their bodies while feeling fully in control. I like 20 minute recipes, I like fast kitchen clean up, and I like finding healthy food options that meet my clean eating criteria (so that I don't have to make them myself) - and this is my approach to helping you. You're busy, you're stressed, you're tired - food needs to be easy and quick, right?

“Sleeping” while waking up groggy, foggy and desperate for caffeine isn’t much of a win.

You need your brain tomorrow.

You need the focus to lead the meeting, make the decision, solve the problem and remember what you walked into the room for.

You need enough patience left for the people you love when the workday is over.

That’s why I’m far more interested in understanding what is disrupting your sleep than finding something powerful enough to knock you out.

What did your body have to manage overnight?

Did it have enough nourishment to sustain you?

Was your stress response still running the show?

Were digestion, inflammation, hormones or your daily rhythms adding to the load?

While every influencer and health hack jumps on a special sleep supplement, the real win for amazing sleep is creating a body that can naturally fall asleep, stay asleep and wake up refreshed…without popping a pill, timing a snack or suffering through another powered drink mix.

If you’re ready to stay asleep longer and wake up feeling like yourself again, comment SLEEP.

Energy isn’t controlled by one hormone, one supplement or one perfect morning routine.

Three things have the greatest influence over whether a woman has reliable energy, or spends the day dragging herself through her own life:

SLEEP
NOURISHMENT
RHYTHM

And they’re deeply connected.

Even if you’re in bed for 8 hours, not getting quality SLEEP often feels like:

Your energy suddenly tanks mid-afternoon.

Your focus wavers mid-morning.

Your cravings for the “forbidden” foods get louder.

And you’re far less likely to follow through on the things that normally help you feel good.

For NOURISHMENT, protein matters. But eating more protein does not automatically mean your cells have everything they need to produce energy.

Your body also needs enough food, minerals, healthy fats, carbohydrates that work for you, hydration and the ability to digest and use what you’re giving it.

And finally: RHYTHM.

Stress happens, don’t ignore it but...

Simply blaming your exhaustion on “stress” or a dysregulated nervous system doesn’t tell you what to do next. (And you’ve probably noticed that meditating or journaling isn’t cutting it…)

Your body needs to feel safety through the small signals you give it every day:

Sunshine.
Fresh air.
Movement.
Hydration.
Regular nourishment.
Moments when you stop producing, solving and responding.

A real transition into bedtime instead of working, scrolling or thinking until your head hits the pillow.

When sleep, nourishment and rhythm begin supporting one another, energy becomes far easier to create, and restorative sleep becomes far easier to sustain.

Because the goal isn’t simply to make you unconscious for eight hours.

It’s to help you wake up with access to your energy, your brain and your life.

If you want to sleep through the night and wake up feeling like you can take on the busiest day, follow me for all my favorite strategies (as someone who struggled with poor sleep for over 2 decades!).

Comment SLEEP is you’re doing all these things and still waking at 3 AM…I’ve got more sleep support for you!!

All the perimenopause talk’ll make you think you’re doomed to feel exhausted all day, push through fatigue and hope and pray that tonight will be THE NIGHT you actually sleep.

As someone who needs to sleep well to be at her best the next day,

It’s natural to search for another supplement, calming drink powder, or food list…anything new that’ll just force your brain to shut down and get you deeply rested each night.

The more “stuff” you add, the more you try to wrestle 3 AM wakings in to submission, the harder it is to stay asleep.

I rarely give out generic health advice (because you’re different than me and her…) but,

THIS ONE THING has been game-changing for my sleep quality AND my all-day energy.

The sun…

Just 15 minutes of real, unfiltered, sunscreen-free sunlight each and every morning.

I take it in while sipping coffee on the beach,
Or walking my cats up and down the street.
When it’s chilly out, I sit in my biggest window and let my mind wander.

Real, raw sunshine is one of the best, most holistic and natural ways to improve sleep, energy, focus, mood and, yes, even hormone balance.

So if you’re not doing this one simple habit yet,

Why not?

It’s free.
It’s easy.
And it helps so, so much.

Comment SUN if you’re committing to more natural sunlight each morning!

In your 20s, “healthy” was about losing weight.

In your 30s, “healthy” was about eating clean.

In your 40s, “healthy” suddenly revolves around your hormones like they just woke up and the rest of your body stopped existing.

Each decade, it seems like we trade one wildly oversimplified explanation for another,

Especially in women’s health.

If perimenopause is kicking your butt, your hormones aren’t the only (or first) spot to look into.

Digestion affects the nutrients you absorb.

Your detoxification still has to clear debris.

Inflammation is still triggered by so many factors from food, environmental situations, stress and more.

Your nervous system still responds to stress.

And your hormones are influenced by ALL of that - if those areas of your body aren’t nourished, balanced, healthy and strong,

Your hormones are thrown out of whack.

We talk endlessly about changing hormones without talking nearly enough about whether the body has the support it needs to handle those changes.

Because your 3 a.m. waking may involve hormones, but it may also involve blood sugar, digestion, inflammation, nutrient gaps, stress or how well your body is clearing those hormones.

Your brain fog may involve estrogen, but blaming estrogen alone doesn’t help you understand why your brain is struggling or what your body needs.

And this hyper-focus on hormones is one of the reasons so many women are doing all the “right” things and still don’t have the energy, sleep, focus or joy they’re looking for.

Your hormones matter.

They just don’t operate in a private little gated community away from the rest of your physiology.

If every symptom you have has been blamed on “hormones” but you still don’t feel like yourself, comment WHOLE.

It’s time we put the rest of your body back into the conversation.

A simple holistic nutrition strategy that has helped me and dozens of women I’ve worked with get more QUALITY sleep:

👉Stop adding things.

But…we’re taught →

If one supplement isn’t working, try a different formula, dose or brand.

Or another nutrient or a more strict bedtime routine.

Do more, try harder, stress your body the F out!

And this 👇

“Dirty” supplements; nutrients are out of balance and gaps get worse; some contradict each other; or you simply take something you absolutely DO NOT NEED!

🎓If you’re taking the popular recommendations and you’re still wide awake at 3 a.m., mentally reorganizing tomorrow’s schedule and calculating how exhausted you’re going to feel when the alarm goes off…there may be a deeper nutritional gap that your “sleep supplements” aren’t touching.

I stopped taking all of mine.

And started giving my body the nutrients it was actually looking for, which, interestingly, weren’t the nutrients traditionally talked about for sleep.

Because sleep isn’t an isolated problem.

It is tightly connected to your digestion, inflammation, detoxification, hormones, blood sugar and nervous system.

A generic supplement stack can’t tell you which of those needs your attention.

Women can experience the same 3 a.m. wake-up and have very different reasons for it.

And that is why I’m not giving you dosages or a schedule in this post.

I don’t know your body yet.

Pretending I can tell you exactly what to take based on one symptom would be unhelpful and, frankly, another waste of your time.

So if the usual sleep advice hasn’t worked, please don’t assume you’re doomed to spend your forties lying awake, watching tomorrow’s energy, workout, patience, focus and productivity disappear by the minute.

You may simply be solving the wrong problem.

Comment SLEEP if you’re ready to stop collecting sleep supplements and start figuring out what your 3 a.m. wake-up is actually telling you.

But first, I need you to understand that I was already doing all the “right” things.

I was taking magnesium glycinate.

Tried melatonin - it gave me what felt like all-night insomnia.

My room was dark. I had a bedtime routine. I spent 30–60 minutes unwinding every night.

And no matter how little, or how much, I drank before bed, I was still getting up to p*e once or twice.

None of the usual sleep tips were doing a damn thing.

So, as a holistic nutritionist, I looked at the bigger picture of what was happening in my body and realized I was missing one key nutrient.

Within four days of giving my body more of it, I was sleeping blissfully through the night.

And even when I did wake up, I fell back asleep so quickly that it barely registered.

But honestly, the sleep itself was only part of it.

Because once I was sleeping again, I had the capacity to:

🏋️‍♀️Work out five mornings a week, which is genuinely my happy place.

🥗Choose healthy meals and actually enjoy making them.

🤑Sign three new clients and increase my monthly income by 1.5x.

🛠️Take on a renovation project.

💃Get out of the house and have fun with my friends again.

It felt like I had my life back.

Now, before anyone asks: no, I’m not going to tell you that this particular nutrient is the answer to waking at 3 a.m.

🎓Because there is no universal magic nutrient for sleep.

And this is exactly why improving your sleep can feel like throwing spaghetti at the wall.

You keep trying whatever helped someone else, without knowing whether your body is asking for the same thing.

🥰This is what I love about holistic nutrition.

I can look at the full pattern - your sleep, energy, appetite, cravings, digestion, stress and everything you’ve already tried - and work out what your body may actually need.

And start the right nutritional strategy for the problem happening in YOUR body.

Comment SLEEP when you’re ready to stop guessing and uncover the nutrition strategy your body may actually respond to.

If you came to me with 3 AM wakings,

I would never just hand you a list of foods, nervous system tools OR supplements to try.

Because waking at 3 AM isn’t a missing nutrient, lack of blueberries or due to you not meditating for 10 minutes a day.

Once you know YOUR unique complex root cause, though, the fix becomes simple.

Comment SLEEP if waking up at 3 AM is something you want to stop doing!

She doesn’t expect testing or supplements to do all the work.

Waking up at 3 AM isn’t *just*...

A blood sugar problem
A cortisol imbalance
Low progesterone
Toxicity

Or whatever single-focused concept way too many women over 40 are led to believe.

I know firsthand how frustrating it is to wake up in the middle of the night and lay there, stewing about how much is on your work schedule the next, how it’s going to mess up your workout plans, and even how it’ll likely mean a less-than-stellar dinner.

But, if I expected testing or supplements to do all the work,

I’d be a walking zombie.

When you get caught up in the latest “miracle” supplement (which is almost always false advertising based on misread study results…) OR another fancy functional lab test (especially if you’ve had them run before),

You miss out on tackling the real cause of your 3 AM wakings.

Poor sleep, low energy and brain fog aren’t something you can “fix” by chasing a marker on a lab test or popping another herbal sleep formula.

Magnesium glycinate, some adaptogens, and passionflower are fine…

But they aren’t “fixes”.

If you’re still waking at 3 AM at least 2 nights a week and you’ve got way too much to accomplish to lose hours tossing and turning,

Comment SLEEP for my fabulous new sleep fix mini course for women over 40.

3 am waking…
3 pm cravings…
Getting into your car and forgetting why…
Drawing a complete blank when trying to generate your latest marketing plan…
Waking up more tired than you were when you went to bed…

Those aren’t separate problems to fix.
They’re information about a deeper imbalance that’s triggering them.

The question your health support team needs to be asking - before running tests, before assuming it’s perimenopause, better telling you what supplements they’re trending right now - is:

What might the pattern of symptoms mean?

Other nutritionists may hand you a generic meal plan that’s designed to “balance hormones”.
Or give you a list of foods to “balance blood sugar” or “reduce inflammation”.

That’s not how I work.

Before I even consider your diet, I have to understand the pattern of your health concerns so that I can uncover the real reason you’re living with them.

The strategy that works for YOU must be designed for YOU.

That’s the key difference between why my clients have so much energy within a few months of working with me versus women who keep gathering more nutrition information and trying so hard to eat clean and healthy.

When you know the right problem to fix, you know what to do to fix it.

Comment DONE if you’re ready for a clean, clear strategy to feel like yourself again.
