I never said I had it all figured out—especially when my key was right on my lap the whole time! Perimenopause brain strikes again! But hey, if you’re also having those ‘what did I just do?’ moments, you’re not alone—this is just the natural ride we’re on. Drop your funniest ‘oops’ below and let’s share some solidarity!

I had a conversation recently with a dear friend of mine.

We’re both in perimenopause.

We talked about the emotional upheaval.
The hot flashes.
The pelvic floor symptoms.
The ways our bodies are changing and asking us to pay attention.

And interestingly…

even amidst all of that,
we also noticed parts of ourselves becoming more alive.

We are becoming women with stronger boundaries.
Women who trust themselves more.
Women who protect their peace.
Women who no longer shrink themselves to make everyone else comfortable.

And honestly?

After everything we’ve been through…

we really love the women we’re becoming.

Perimenopause is often spoken about only through the lens of symptoms.
But for many of us, it’s also been a season of deep growth, clarity, healing, and self-respect.

There is grief in this transition.
But there can also be wisdom.
Strength.
Freedom.
And a coming home to yourself.

You are not disappearing.

You are becoming. ♡

Many women enter perimenopause thinking they’re suddenly “bad at stress.”

But often what’s actually happening is that multiple systems in the body are changing and interacting at the same time.

Sleep.
Hormones.
Nervous system regulation.
Emotional resilience.
Temperature regulation.
Stress response.

In clinic, I’m often looking for the pattern underneath the symptoms rather than viewing each symptom in isolation.

This is one of the things I appreciate most about Traditional Chinese Medicine. It approaches the body as an interconnected system rather than a collection of unrelated parts.

Sometimes understanding the pattern changes everything.

Perimenopause is often talked about like it’s just hot flashes.

But in clinic, what I hear far more often is:

“I don’t feel like myself anymore.”

People describe:
• anxiety that feels louder• emotional dysregulation• exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix• worsening ADHD symptoms• sensory sensitivity• nervous system overwhelm• feeling suddenly less resilient

And many are left wondering:“What is happening to me?”

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, these symptoms are not random or isolated.

Sleep, stress, digestion, hormones, emotions, energy, and nervous system regulation are deeply interconnected.

TCM does not just ask:“What symptom do you have?”

It asks:“Why is your system producing it?”

Perimenopause is not your body failing.

It may be your body asking for a different way of living.

One of the things that has surprised me most about perimenopause…
both personally and professionally…
is how many people are experiencing symptoms without realizing this transition may be part of the reason.

Not just hot flashes.

But anxiety.
Brain fog.
Sleep disruption.
Exhaustion.
Feeling emotionally unlike yourself.
Or simply feeling like your body has become unfamiliar to you.

After 16 years in clinical practice — and now moving through this transition myself — I wanted to create something that helped make this experience feel clearer and easier to understand.

So I put together a perimenopause guide that explores:
• common but often confusing symptoms
• why this transition can look so different from person to person
• how both Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine understand perimenopause
• and why seemingly unrelated symptoms may actually be connected ✨

Because sometimes the first step isn’t fixing anything.

It’s finally understanding what your body may be trying to tell you 🤍

You can find the guide through the link in my bio.

And if someone came to mind while reading this, feel free to share it with them too ✨

Long weekend reset? I have a few acupuncture spots available Monday, May 18th.

If your body has been running on stress, tension, poor sleep, headaches, overwhelm, cycle symptoms, nervous system overload, or you just want a moment to finally exhale… this is your reminder to take care of yourself too.

Acupuncture can help support:
• nervous system regulation
• stress and anxiety
• sleep
• muscle tension and pain
• hormonal shifts and perimenopause
• feeling more grounded in your body again

A long weekend can be a perfect time to reset instead of pushing through.

DM me or book online if you’d like one of the remaining spots ✨

A patient recently told me she finally feels like her body is working with her again instead of against her.

She’s no longer waking up to p*e at night, her hip pain has improved, she’s sleeping more deeply, and she feels like her body is finally starting to tone up again.

These are the kinds of gradual but meaningful shifts I often see during perimenopause care.

Perimenopause affects far more than hormones alone, and you do not have to simply “live with it.”

Perimenopause and menopause are often explained as a hormonal shift.

But what I see in clinic is that it’s also a shift in how the body regulates overall.

Sleep changes
Mood shifts
Heat, night sweats, or fatigue
A sense of not feeling like yourself

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, these are not random symptoms. They reflect how the body is adapting to a new phase.

I wrote an article to explain this more clearly, including why symptoms happen and why they vary from person to person.

If this resonates with you, you can read it through the link in my bio.
