I talk about a lot with all my patients and clients and how it's so important to prioritize that. Alas, I am also guilty of not following my own advice.

I don't really post on social media nor do I like sharing my personal thoughts and feelings but felt compelled to today.

Self-care is not always candle lit bubble baths or a glass of wine. It's not always glamorous nor insta-post worthy. A lot of times it's managing our stress as extended periods of prolonged stress can and will manifest in our bodies as tension, stomach issues, wonky blood pressure, skin issues, etc. And a lot of times these physical symptoms won't show anything on medical tests.

Sometimes we will have seasons in our life where the reality is we just simply cannot remove those overwhelming burdens and we just simply have to go through that fire(s). What I have found that has been working for me, is increasing the pleasures in life that I look forward to - and lately for me it's been my plants. I'm terrible with just sitting and meditating but active meditation has done wonders for me.

Through my plants I've been learning that sometimes we outgrow our environment and need a change for us to re-root for expansion. Some of my plants have thrown "tantrums" with repotting and looked "sad" but after adjusting to its new home, have FLOURISHED. Sometimes we need to prune the branches and areas that have been draining our resources and stifling us so we can focus our energy on more productive growth and allow it to BLOSSOM. Sometimes going through a drought is necessary so it could better absorb the nutrients and water to further . And some of my other plants needed complete stillness in the shade to allow for much necessary .

Most importantly, what I've been learning lately through caring for my plants is that each individual one has different needs and that I need to be mindful of the environment it's growing in and that I need to keep adjusting to allow them . And that each day is a balancing act for each and every one of them. Some days they each need different levels of attention and nurturing.

Just like us.

I am now a Certified Fascia Stretch Practitioner - Level 1!!!

So... What is Fascia Stretch Therapy, you ask? Great question! Because admittedly, I didn't know too much about it either. Full disclosure and transparency: I only took it because it was suggested to me as I was told that it would be easier on my body. I'm known to give deep tissue/deep pressure massage and tend to lean towards targeted treatments vs. "relaxation" - and let me tell you... As much as I LOVE my job, doing that 6 days a week has been tough on my body.

Fascia Stretch Therapy (FST) is a FULL body treatment that is both gentle AND gets deep into the soft tissue. It helps unwind your body. Imagine wearing a suit jacket and pair of pants that's 2 sizes too small and trying to move about as normally as possible. FST is like finally getting fitted and unraveled into your favourite, comfy sweats and t-shirt so you can move about or lounge as freely as you please.

The Practitioner focuses on stretching WITH you WITHIN your body's ability while also prioritizing your nervous system - leaving your body feeling nurtured and your nervous system calmed.

I didn't have much expectations but by my second and third day of this course and experiences I was blown away by how much better my body felt. My lower back and hip pain was SIGNIFICANTLY reduced and by the third day, my gait returned to normal and I was able to come to a full complete squat without ANY hip rotation PAIN FREE! AND I witnessed a girl in my class with an ACL injury get down to a low squat after being unable to do so for the longest time. I am now a HUGE believer in this style of treatment and I am so excited to help others experience the same.

For anyone who is curious in trying this style of treatment and/or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to me. I am very excited to share this with all of you.

Thank you all for reading this far and I look forward to hearing from you.
