Do you want to learn how to harvest sacred plants and use them in your own salves?

Join myself & Julie Walker from Circle Adventures this Saturday 3 June from 9.30-1.30 to harvest, dry and make your own healing salves. We'll be going on a wonderful walk through a ranch just south of Chain Lakes Provincial Park where you will learn how to ethically forage plants and dry them. We'll use previously dried plants to create three salves for you to take home.

Date: Saturday June 3rd

Meeting Location: Meet in Longview, AB at 9:00 am. Details and forms will be e-mailed to registrants prior to the outing.

Price per person: $185

Includes: Foraging tools, a nature gift of reciprocity, baskets to use, paper bags, take home salves, an experienced forager and wilderness first aid trained guide, instruction from Herbal Healing Inc.

For more than 2500 years, elderberry has been used to treat flu, coughs, and colds. Elderberry juice triggers the body’s powers of resistance, aiding the restoration and maintenance of good health.
A few studies have produced persuasive evidence for elderberries’ usefulness against flu viruses. Active components fight various strains by destroying the virus’s ability to reproduce itself.

In one study, a double-blind trial was performed on patients infected with flu during an outbreak. In the patients who received elderberry syrup, 20% had significant improvement in symptoms within 24 hours. In 48 hours, 75% were much improved, and in 72 hours, 90% were completely cured. The placebo group took at least 6 days before any significant improvement was seen.
The patients receiving elderberry syrup had more antibodies than those given the placebo, indicating their immune function had been enhanced.

This is an ideal job for a herbal studies student! Duties include opening and closing the booth, product/herb knowledge and consulting with customers about health issues. Sales experience is required but more importantly, an interest in natural and alternative healing methods!
