A psycho educational assessment helps identify strengths!

Every brain works differently

Every brain has super powers

When we don’t know how our super power works

It can be problematic

When we don’t know how to make the most of ADHD and it’s strengths

It can lead to misunderstandings and confusion

Spiderman had to learn to control his super power

He can’t shoot spiderwebs anywhere all the time

The best timing of psycho-educational assessments may depend on a few things

At this time of the year

It is beneficial to consider that it is still possible to get teacher input

Teachers have now been with your child for nearly 10 months and have a lot of great feedback on how to go forward to make next year the best one yet

Also at this time benefits renew for many plans. Often on June 1st or July 1st

Booking now allows you to maximize the benefits for both benefit years

Ultimately

The best timing is the one that provides the best support for your child within the best time frame

Also note

You can book now to allow for teacher input

But book your assessment appointments in the summer to avoid missing school.

Their observations are very meaningful to the diagnostic decision making

I’ve said it before and I will keep saying it

Young athletes have individual needs and should be encouraged to develop their own pre-game rituals

What works for one athlete

May create anxiety for another

Anxiety impacts ultimate performance

In some cases it can trigger survival mode and fight, flight, freeze

Which is not how you want to send your athletes into their games or performances

Knowing how an athlete experiences stress and what helps them thrive

Helps them (and the team) win 🏆

Return to sport and return to game

When it comes to athlete injuries

Planning a way forward is important

As it can help to get in front of concerns like anxiety and depression

Working as a team with coaches, physios, doctors and psychologists

Helps everyone be on the same page and support the athlete

Return to sport is not necessarily the same physical readiness as return to game.

The difference can be very emotional for the athlete.

To support struggling readers

Is to use materials with varying

Fonts

Letter sizes

Colours

Some students are able to read more easily when presented with a font that makes sense to them

For example

Some will have an easier time with serifs

And others with sans serifs

If your child has had ongoing challenges with reading

An assessment may be a helpful tool in providing their teacher with guidance on how to teach your child using strategies that make sense for them.
