Join us for a community screening of Fear and Now, a documentary that explores fear, birth, the nervous system, and the cultural narratives that shape childbirth experiences.
This gathering is intended for Calgary-area HypnoBirthing® educators, birth workers, perinatal professionals, and others who are interested in supporting more informed, connected, and less fear-based approaches to birth.
As we began planning this event, it became clear that it could be more than simply a film screening. We hope it will also provide an opportunity for connection, conversation, and community-building among people who care deeply about supporting birthing families.
Following the screening, we will host an informal discussion exploring themes such as fear and birth, language and the nervous system, birth culture, and the role of supportive care in childbirth.
Time: 5:00–8:00 PM (screening, discussion, and hopefully a Q&A with the director/producer, along with a potluck supper)
Date: Saturday, June 27, 2026
Location: Lower Level, 1616 20A St NW, Calgary, AB (below the Birth Centre)
This is intended to be a relaxed, community-oriented gathering rather than a commercial event. The $25 registration fee helps cover the film screening and event costs.
Save your seat with a ticket - in person or online.
Space is limited to approximately 30 participants. Registration is confirmed upon payment and spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
We are also planning a casual potluck-style atmosphere for anyone who would like to bring something
simple to share.
We look forward to gathering with you for an evening of learning, reflection, and conversation.
Warmly,
Natalie, Marjorie, Toni, Monica, Charmagne
