The Calvin, Phoebe and Joan Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases was named in 2008 in honour of Joan Snyder and her parents, whom Ms. Snyder credits for teaching her the value of philanthropy. It is a group of more than 125 clinicians, clinician-scientists and basic scientists who are impacting and changing the lives of people suffering from chronic diseases, including sepsis, MRSA, cystic fibros

Congratulations to Dr. Lynn Cornell on her appointment as Academic Head of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Cu***ng School of Medicine. We look forward to the leadership, expertise, and vision she will bring to this important role. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Cornell as she begins this new chapter on July 1.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lynn Cornell, MD, as the new academic head of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Cu***ng School of Medicine (CSM).

Dr. Cornell is a professor with the departments of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and Medicine at CSM and an anatomical pathologist with Alberta Precision Laboratories.

Prior to joining the University of Calgary, Dr. Cornell dedicated many years to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. She founded the Clinic’s renal pathology fellowship program and served as the program director from 2012 to 2025.

Organized by our trainee committee, the event featured inspiring talks from Drs. Markus Geuking, Nargis Khan and Craig Jenne.

A special thank you to our trainee panelists — Anne Lu, Sophie Wu, Priya Raj, and Ryland Gujilde — for sharing their experiences and answering thoughtful questions about aspiring for careers in immunology.

We’re also incredibly grateful to our organizers, Liam Wilkinson and Anika Arora, whose hard work made this event such a success.
