As Foot Nurses, we don’t just treat nails and skin — we treat the whole client.
Many commonly prescribed medications can directly impact:
• Circulation
• Skin integrity
• Nerve sensation
• Nail health
• Wound healing
Understanding a client’s medication profile helps us:
✔️ Anticipate risks
✔️ Modify treatment safely
✔️ Prevent complications
✔️ Know when to escalate care
Medications such as statins, diabetes meds, diuretics, blood pressure drugs, steroids, anticoagulants, and chemotherapy agents can all present with foot-specific side effects — from neuropathy and delayed healing to fragile skin, swelling, bruising, and increased infection risk.
