We at the Cambridge Psychology Centre wish to extend our deepest condolences to the Hamilton Police Service for the recent loss of one of their workers. As psychology providers who live and work in the community of Hamilton and who have also worked alongside HPS training branch, this loss resonates deeply. Trauma is a thief. Depression is overwhelming. Mental health requires visibility, connection and support. Check in with each other 🫂

Our Psychologist Michelle Lucci spent the past six days co-facilitating a Couples Overcoming PTSD Everyday (Cope) program! This is one of the many programs funded by Wounded Warriors Canada

It is always a privilege to work alongside folks who are motivated to improve their relationships, particularly when PTSD is in the mix

The Wounded Warriors Canada COPE program is Canada’s leading couples-based trauma program for Trauma Exposed Professionals (TExP’s) and their Trauma Exposed Families (TExF’s). COPE is delivered nationally in English and French and is open to all Canadian veterans and first responders and their spouse/partner. This includes currently serving and retired/released veterans as well as RCMP, Police, Fire, EMS and Corrections services

Another four days of incredibly meaningful work! The Trauma Resiliency Program 2, funded by Wounded Warriors Canada, builds on skills and information taught in TRP1. Participants choose a traumatic event and work through it using a three part written narrative. The strength of the work is in the cohesiveness of the group and the positive social response provided by the group. Participants titrate their exposure to their chosen event in a ‘place of safety’. It is difficult and important work!
