More isn't always better. Better is better.
You don't have to leave every workout completely exhausted to make progress.
The newest ACSM Position Statement found that training to absolute failure isn't necessary for most people to build strength or muscle.
Instead, focus on:
✔️ Good technique
✔️ Progressive overload
✔️ Consistency
Those three things will take you much farther than chasing soreness.
Have questions about your training? Book an assessment with one of our physiotherapists at https://www.grsm.ca/appointment-request/.

You don't need to spend hours in the gym to get stronger.
The latest American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines recommend training each major muscle group at least twice a week to build strength and improve overall health.
The biggest gains come from being consistent—not from having the perfect workout.
Whether you're recovering from an injury, training for a race, or simply looking to stay active, strength training is one of the best investments you can make in your health.
📍Need help getting started? Our physiotherapists can design a program that's right for you.

This week’s myth: “No Pain, No Gain.”

Exercise is meant to be a challenge, but sharp, or persistent pains could be a sign. Ignoring pain can cause setbacks like muscle tears or chronic joint issues.

Lacrosse season is in full swing, and staying on the field means taking care of your body off of it.

Zach Holmes, Registered Physiotherapist at GRSM Kitchener, walks through six exercises to help lacrosse players build the strength and stability that keeps them moving well and reduces the risk of common injuries.

The exercises include side planks with hip abduction, Nordic hamstring eccentric curls, lateral hop to jump, single leg calf raises, Bulgarian split squats, and single leg balance with ball throws.

Give it a try and let us know how it feels in the comments. 👇
