For Marilyn Kinsella, painting has never just been a hobby. It’s been a way of seeing the world.

In this beautiful conversation, Marilyn shares her journey as an artist, from learning to paint oils at just 13 years old beside a quiet riverside painter, to building a life in Canmore, selling hundreds of mountain paintings, teaching others to truly “see,” and continuing to create today here at Origin.

She speaks honestly about moving into Origin after the loss of her husband, finding comfort and security in community, and rediscovering her creative rhythm through a dedicated painting space that feels, in her words, “kind of like going out to work.”

There’s something incredibly special about hearing someone reflect on a lifetime of creativity, resilience, and perspective. We’re so grateful Marilyn shared her story with us. ❤️

An unforgettable day at the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary🤍

We had such an incredible time learning more about wolfdogs, their behaviours, their stories, and the important work being done to protect and care for them. The experience was not only beautiful, but genuinely educational and eye-opening.

It’s clear how much care, respect, and dedication goes into giving these animals a safe and meaningful life while helping visitors better understand the connection between wildlife, conservation, and coexistence.

So grateful for the opportunity to see these amazing animals up close and support the work this sanctuary is doing.

There’s something special about gathering in the kitchen together.

This month, Nicole led us through making wonton soup from scratch, and it was one of those afternoons filled with learning, laughter, and a lot of taste-testing along the way. These moments are about more than just the food. They’re about trying something new, sharing stories, and creating a sense of home around the table.
