The Mississippi River Health Alliance can confirm that a Lanark County Paramedic Service ambulance was involved in a single-vehicle incident on Highway 15 during the early morning hours of June 8th.

Two paramedics were transported to hospital for assessment and treatment. We are relieved to share that both paramedics are stable and recovering.

No patient was on board the ambulance at the time of the incident.

Our thoughts are with the paramedics involved and their families.

The wellbeing of our staff is our highest priority, and we are grateful for the support shown by the community.

We would like to thank Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service, Rideau Lakes Fire Rescue, and all emergency responders who assisted at the scene.

Our focus remains on supporting the paramedics involved and respecting their privacy. We will share updates as appropriate.

Yesterday, the Mississippi River Health Alliance proudly recognized staff, medical staff, and recent retirees during our 2026 Long Service Awards celebration held at Almonte General Hospital.

This year's recipients represented milestone anniversaries ranging from five to forty years of service across Almonte General Hospital, Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital, Fairview Manor, and Lanark County Paramedic Service.

Together, these individuals represent hundreds of years of dedication, compassion, professionalism, and service to our patients, residents, colleagues, and communities.

We were especially proud to recognize several significant milestones this year, including:

• 40 years of service for Heather White
• 35 years of service for Kelley McDiarmid
• 30 years of service for Lee Ann Rath

Behind every service milestone is a person who has made a meaningful difference in the lives of others — often quietly, compassionately, and consistently over many years.

To all of this year's recipients and retirees: thank you for your incredible dedication and commitment to healthcare in our communities.

🏳️‍🌈 Today, the Mississippi River Health Alliance is proud to recognize the beginning of Pride Month.

Throughout June, the Progress Pride Flag will be displayed across our sites in support of 2SLGBTQIA+ staff, patients, residents, medical staff, and community members — and as a reflection of our commitment to inclusion, respect, and belonging.

This morning's flag raising ceremonies at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital, Almonte General Hospital, and Fairview Manor were a meaningful moment for our teams and communities, while the Progress Pride Flag is also being displayed at Lanark County Paramedic Service throughout June.

This year, the MRHA is also proud to introduce optional rainbow lanyards for staff — another visible symbol of allyship and support across our organization.

LCPS paramedics are wearing rainbow epaulettes and Pride flag pins throughout the month of June as a visible sign of support, inclusion, and solidarity with 2SLGBTQIA+ members of our community.

🧡 As we close out National Physiotherapy Month, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank the outstanding rehabilitation teams at Almonte General Hospital and Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital.

Every day, our physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants help patients recover from injury, regain strength and mobility, manage chronic conditions, and return to the activities that matter most to them. Their work is skilled, compassionate, patient-centred, and deeply valued across our organization.

To our PT and PTA teams across the MRHA — thank you for the important role you play in supporting the health, recovery, and well-being of our patients and communities. We are proud to have you as part of our care teams. 💙

As part of our final Paramedic Services Week 2026 spotlight, we're proud to recognize Angie — a dedicated paramedic, community advocate, wife, mother of three, and valued member of the Lanark County Paramedic Service team. 💙

After a successful career in project management, Angie followed her passion for helping others and has now been serving her community as a paramedic for the past six years.

Thank you, Angie, for your compassion, professionalism, and commitment to supporting patients and communities across Lanark County every day.

And thank you to all LCPS paramedics and staff for the incredible work you do each and every day.

Meet Angie, a valued member of the Lanark County Paramedic Service. After a successful career as a project manager and raising three daughters, she decided to pursue her longtime passion and graduated from Algonquin College’s Paramedic program. She has now been serving her community as a paramedic for six years and is currently supporting the collaborative LIFT Outreach Pilot.

What she enjoys most about working in Lanark County is the combination of rural and urban care, along with the close-knit feel of a smaller service where coworkers and patients become familiar faces. She also enjoys helping educate the public about the evolving role of paramedics and the important work being done through Community Paramedicine.

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and three daughters, travelling, enjoying great food, attending live entertainment, and knitting. She also spent a year living in Stockholm, Sweden, an experience that further fueled her love of travel and adventure.

Her advice for anyone considering paramedicine is simple: it’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding career for those who love helping people.

Meet Jason — a dedicated paramedic with 25 years of experience serving the community through emergency response, volunteerism, mentorship, and leadership both on and off duty.

Thank you, Jason, for your continued compassion, professionalism, and commitment to the communities you serve every day.

Meet Jason, a dedicated member of Lanark County Paramedic Service with 25 years of experience in paramedicine. Jason graduated from Loyalist College’s Bancroft campus and has spent more than two decades serving his community in emergency response.

Before becoming a paramedic, Jason worked for the federal government, but he quickly realized his passion was in emergency services. As a former volunteer firefighter and volunteer with OPP Search and Rescue, helping others has always been his calling.
Outside of work, Jason stays active as a hockey trainer supporting the Carleton Place Canadians and the Almonte Centennials. He also enjoys the great outdoors, spending time cottaging, camping, and snowmobiling.

Jason’s advice for anyone considering a career in paramedicine is to immerse yourself in volunteer opportunities. Whether through organizations like St. John Ambulance, local hospitals or fire departments, volunteering is a great way to gain experience, build confidence, and better understand the emergency response environment before entering the profession.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of radiological diagnostic procedures and cardiopulmonary procedures (ECGs), while helping deliver safe, high-quality patient care close to home.

✔ Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists
✔ CAMRT or OAMRT membership
