LABOUR DAY LONG WEEKEND TRAFFIC SAFETY INITIATIVE IN HALDIMAND COUNTY:

Haldimand County OPP wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Labour Day long weekend and reminds all motorists to make responsible decisions on our roads and waterways.

The Labour Day traffic safety initiative begins today, September 4, 2026, and will continue until 11:59 p.m. on September 7, 2026. Throughout the long weekend, officers will maintain a visible presence across Haldimand County, focusing on the Big Four driving behaviours most commonly associated with serious and fatal collisions.

Enforcement efforts will target:
• Speeding
• Dangerous driving
• Impaired driving
• Seatbelt compliance

As residents and visitors travel throughout the holiday weekend, Haldimand County OPP encourages everyone to slow down, stay alert, and make safe choices behind the wheel.

Over 25,000 customers remain without power around our area. My own electricity JUST returned after 2am – I’ve been out for about 12+ hours – so I can start getting back to business again.

Enjoy incredible vintage and classic vehicles, dash plaques, trophies, a 50/50 draw, anniversary T-shirts, museum tours, delicious food, and more. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds supporting Ontario Parents Advocating for Children with Cancer (OPACC).
