💙 Introducing Our New Community Spotlight 💙

We’re excited to share something new on the East Haven Funeral Home Inc. website — our Community Spotlight.

Being part of this community means more to us than simply being here when families need us. Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to support many wonderful organizations, causes, fundraisers, and community initiatives throughout our area.

Our new Community Spotlight is our way of shining a little light on the organizations that work so hard to make our communities stronger.

Our first Community Spotlight is one that is especially close to our hearts:

🏥 The Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Foundation

We’re proud to support the Foundation annually and the important work they do to help strengthen health care right here on the Southwest Coast.

And there’s an important date coming up!

📻 Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Radiothon
📅 September 24, 2026

We encourage everyone who can to consider supporting the Radiothon and the incredible work being done to keep quality health care close to home.

👉 Visit our website and check out our first Community Spotlight to learn more about the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Foundation and why this cause is so important to our community.

We’ll be adding more Community Spotlights in the months ahead, recognizing some of the many organizations and causes that make our communities what they are.

Because caring for our community doesn’t end at our doors. 💙

Intense emotions are a normal part of life, but they can sometimes feel overwhelming and difficult to manage.

When emotions like anxiety, anger or sadness become intense, it can be challenging to know how to respond in ways that support our well-being.

Learning effective coping strategies can help us navigate these moments with greater confidence and resilience.

This week’s session is focused on coping with intense emotions.

Together, we’ll explore:

✔️ Understanding intense emotions and how they can impact our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

✔️ How we may respond to distress in ways that can sometimes make situations more difficult.

✔️ Practical strategies to manage difficult emotions and reduce distress.

✔️ Healthy coping tools to help build resilience and support overall mental wellness.

sessions are open, welcoming spaces to learn more about mental health and access helpful resources. This session offers a safe, judgement-free environment to develop new skills, explore strategies for improving emotional well-being and gain tools to support your mental health journey.

📣 DATE CHANGE — LETTERS TO HEAVEN MEMORIAL SERVICE 💌

A little change to our plans! ❤️

Our First Annual Letters to Heaven Memorial Service has been rescheduled.

📅 NEW DATE: Saturday, October 17th, 2026
🕜 Time: 1:30 p.m.
📍 St. Paul’s Church, Grand Bay, Port aux Basques

We made this change so that we can properly prepare for and honour this very special service.

The response to our Letters to Heaven Mailbox has been absolutely incredible. We are so touched by the number of letters that have been entrusted to us, and we are honoured to be able to bring them together for this special time of remembrance.

As a reminder, NONE of the letters are ever opened. No one reads them. No one sees them. They remain sealed and private from the moment they are placed in the mailbox until they are respectfully included in the memorial service.

At the service, the sealed letters will be reverently burned, and the ashes will be returned to the earth as a symbol of releasing our words while keeping the love and memories of our loved ones close to our hearts.

💌 And the mailbox isn't going anywhere!

It will remain in the yard at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. until the snow arrives. During the winter months, we'll move it closer to the building so it can continue to be used all year long — including Christmas, when we know the absence of those we love can feel especially heavy.

Thank you to everyone who has already trusted us with your words, your memories, and your love.

And if you haven't written your letter yet, there is still plenty of time. ❤️

October 17th. 1:30 p.m. St. Paul’s Church.

We hope you will join us as we come together as a community to remember, honour, and love those who will always remain in our hearts.

💌 Letters to Heaven
Some words are meant for one heart alone. We promise they'll stay that way.

🕯️ Guiding Light Gatherings 🧩

We’re excited to announce that Guiding Light Gatherings will begin on Tuesday, September 8th at 7:00 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home.

Guiding Light Gatherings is a relaxed, welcoming space for anyone who is grieving and looking for a little company along the way.

There will be no agenda, no presentations, no timelines, and no expectations. Come sit, have a coffee, enjoy some snacks, work on a puzzle, share a story, have a laugh, or simply spend some time with others who understand what it’s like to grieve.

We are not counsellors, therapists, or grief experts. This isn’t about telling anyone how to grieve or trying to “fix” anything. It’s simply about creating a safe and comfortable place where people can come together, talk if they want to, listen if they’d rather, and support one another.

Come as you are. There’s no right or wrong way to be here. ❤️
