This International Paramedics Day, we are holding close the people and communities who remind us that even in the hardest moments, we are never alone.

We are thankful for our colleagues who support one another through difficult moments, for the communities we serve who continue to show us kindness and compassion when we need it most, and for the paramedic community as a whole who have come together over the past 24 hours with an outpouring of compassion, strength, and empathy.

To our partners in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia who responded so quickly to yesterday’s events, thank you.

To our paramedic colleagues across the country and around the world whose messages of support have been deeply felt, we appreciate you.

Today, we also want to remind everyone that emergencies don’t take a day off. Our staff continue to serve our communities in the wake of tragedy, with professionalism, care, and dedication.

Please be kind to yourself, and one another, as we navigate through this together.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic motor vehicle collision involving two of our paramedics and the patient in their care.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Out of respect for those involved and their loved ones, we ask that our community honour those affected without speculation, but instead with compassion and patience as they navigate the difficult days ahead.

We appreciate all of the outreach from the community. Our focus is on the families, friends, and colleagues of those who have been impacted by this tragedy. Our thoughts are also with the driver involved in the collision and their family during this difficult time.
