One of the best investments I’ve ever made was hiring a coach ⭐️
Not because I didn’t know how to work hard—but because I needed someone who knew how to get me where I wanted to go.
Before I thought to reach out, I simply thought every workout had to be more.
More cardio.
More core.
More supersets.
More sweat.
More keeping my heart rate through the roof.
I always worked hard. That was never an issue. However, the harder I worked the further away from my goal I got.
In 2021, I hovered around 185–190 lbs. I was fast, athletic, & thought I was eating exactly how I should. Most meals were chicken, vegetables, low carbs & other “clean” foods.
But no matter how hard I trained, I couldn’t build the physique I was chasing.
I wasn’t training in a way that matched my goal.
I also wasn’t giving my body what it needed outside the gym. I was consistently working out 6-7 days a week. I wasn’t getting enough rest, & while I thought my nutrition was “healthy,” I wasn’t fueling my body to build muscle. I was simply eating clean—not eating for my goal.
Hiring a coach didn’t teach me how to work hard. It taught me how to work toward the right goal.
Not because I didn’t know how to work out. Not because I needed someone to motivate me.
What I really needed was a blueprint.
Since I started at AFC I admired a bodybuilder that like myself, praised being natural & has a physique that I thought was really impressive. So I reached out.
For just under a year, Connor St Jean taught me how to train with purpose instead of just intensity. He also taught me that nutrition isn’t about eating what you think is “clean”—it’s about fueling your body for your goals. Eating & recovery wasn’t something to squeeze in if I had time. It became part of the plan.
That changed everything.
Fast forward to today, I’m sitting comfortably at 225 lbs while maintaining my abs. I’ve been as heavy as 237 lbs, & every winter I look forward to slowly building back toward my goal of 240 lbs before leaning out again.
More importantly, I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been.
I prioritize my sleep. I fuel my body with intention. I will always enjoy life, but alcohol is no longer a weekend thing unless a special occasion or if I deserve 1-3 on a sunny day 😇 My training has purpose, my recovery has purpose, & my nutrition has purpose.
I’ve accomplished every goal that I’ve set out over the years, & I truly believe that’s because I stopped guessing & started following a plan that was built specifically for me.
To this day, I still thank Connor whenever I get the chance.
It’s also another reason why I believe so strongly in coaching, because I know firsthand how life-changing the right guidance can be.
Whether your goal is building muscle, losing fat, getting stronger, or simply feeling better in your own skin, you don’t need another random workout from the internet or the newest Instagram influencer.
You need someone who understands your goal & can build the roadmap to get you there.
The work is still yours to do 👏🏽
A coach doesn’t do the work for you—but they make sure your hard work is actually taking you where you want to go 🙌🏽
That’s why I love what I do. I get to help people stop guessing, start training with purpose, & build a plan that fits their goals—just like someone once did for me.
Happy Monday 🤘🏽
Work hard, stay positive, live life 👊🏽
