Sunscreen is a summer staple, but your pet may have more access to it than you realize.

Pets can ingest human sunscreen by licking it off your skin, nosing through a beach bag, or having it applied directly to their haircoat or skin. Human formulas aren't safe for pets, so if sun protection is needed, look for a pet-safe formula free from zinc oxide and salicylates.

One Of The Scariest Sounds Your Dog Can Make Is Usually NOT An Emergency

Have you ever heard your dog suddenly make a loud snorting or honking sound?

It may be something called reverse sneezing.

Although it can look frightening, reverse sneezing is often harmless and usually resolves on its own.

Common triggers include:

🐾 Excitement

🐾 Allergies

🐾 Irritants

🐾 Sudden temperature changes

🐾 Pulling on a leash

🚨 If episodes become frequent, prolonged, or are accompanied by difficulty breathing, veterinary assessment is recommended.

The more we understand normal canine health events, the better prepared we are for real emergencies.

🚨 Is Your Dog Overheating?

Heat stroke doesn't always start with collapse.

Early warning signs include:

☀️ Excessive panting

☀️ Bright red gums

☀️ Drooling

☀️ Seeking shade constantly

☀️ Slowing down during walks

☀️ Appearing restless or anxious

As body temperature rises, signs can progress to:

🚨 Vomiting

🚨 Weakness

🚨 Collapse

🚨 Seizures

Dogs can overheat much faster than many people realize, even on days that don't feel extremely hot.

The best treatment is prevention.

✔ Fresh water

✔ Shade

✔ Frequent breaks

✔ Avoid peak heat hours
