GREEN, Bradley Joseph
1957-2026
It is with profound sadness that the family of Bradley Joseph Green announce his peaceful passing at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on June 10, 2026, at the age of 68, following a sudden and devastating illness.
He will be deeply missed by his sweetheart and best friend “in love and life”, Stormi Rivers. He leaves behind his daughters Kristen Green (James) and Jenny Green (Skylar), who were his greatest pride and joy. He was a proud grandfather to Austyn Green (Reegan), Charlysse VanHumbeck, Charles VanHumbeck IV, Briyah Baylis and Braelen Baylis, each of whom brought endless happiness to his heart.
Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Helen Green, and his siblings Shirley Gordon (Bob), Jim Green, Marlene Gobert (Bob), Gerry Green and Ron Green (Amy). He is survived by his beloved ‘sis’ Diane McLean (Ron), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were brighter by knowing him.
Brad was truly one of a kind. The kind of man who would show up without being asked, lend a hand without hesitation, and loved without limits. He was a devoted girl dad, and the best at it. No matter how old they became, his daughters remained his girls and they knew that no matter what, when or why, Dad would be there. He was their safe place, their protector, biggest supporter, and greatest source of strength. From everyday moments to life’s biggest milestones, he was there and was their person they could always count on.
He shared a special love with his sweetheart Stormi. Though they had known each other earlier in life, fate eventually brought them back together. They enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing dice around the kitchen table, taking drives along the lake, and listening to Chris Stapleton. They shared the kind of love filled with laughter, companionship and a youthful affection that brought smiles to those around them.
Brad loved fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and anything that brought him outdoors. He was a true fisherman with some of his happiest moments spent watching the sunrise on the lake, with a cup of instant Maxwell House in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. He played many sports throughout his life, with hockey and baseball being among his favorites. Though a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, he remained fiercely loyal to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He loved country music, listening to The Tragically Hip, and had a soft spot for animals, opening both his home and heart to many over the years, including his beloved companions Charlie and Tippy.
Brad worked alongside his father on the railroad and later as a general laborer and skilled mason and bricklayer. Though he helped build homes, the greatest thing he built was his family. He could fix anything with his hands, and if Grandpa couldn’t fix it, everyone knew they were in trouble. Whether tinkering in the yard, working on a vehicle, sharing cold beers with friends, or enthusiastically playing the air drums on his steering wheel, Brad brought laughter and life wherever he went. His playful spirit, infectious laugh and quick wit will be treasured and carried in the hearts of those who loved him forever.
Even throughout the challenges of his illness, Brad remained positive, polite and remarkably strong. Many of the professionals who cared for him commented on what an incredible man he was-a true testament to his character and resilience. Though this terrible disease took him far too soon and far too quickly, Brad’s memory and legacy will live on in the beautiful life he built, the values he instilled, and the unconditional love he gave so freely.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are welcome to attend a short Graveside Interment Service at Maple Leaf Cemetery at 1:00pm on Friday June 19, 2026. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Kent Belgian Dutch Canadian Club, 34 Byng Ave, Chatham.
Donations in Brad’s memory are welcome to be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation and/or Canadian Cancer Society: Glioblastoma Research Program.
“For fathers like Brad are never truly gone. Their lessons and love forever carry on. And in the hearts of his loved ones, wherever they may be, he’ll remain their hero for all eternity.”
