✨Practitioner Spotlight: Chris Wayne✨
Meet our practitioner of the week, Physiotherapist Chris Wayne!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to stay active by strength training, hiking, and getting outdoors whenever I can. I also enjoy keeping up with new research and continuing education in physiotherapy because I like improving my clinical skills and finding better ways to help my patients. Outside of that, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, which helps me maintain a good balance and come back to work energized
What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of being a physiotherapist is helping people regain confidence in their movement and return to the activities that are meaningful to them. It’s rewarding to see the progress patients make and know I’ve played a part in improving their quality of life.
What is your favourite muscle and why?
I’d probably choose the iliopsoas because it’s a fascinating muscle from both an anatomical and clinical perspective. It’s the primary hip flexor, but it also has an important role in lumbopelvic stability and movement. Because it crosses both the lumbar spine and the hip, dysfunction can contribute to a variety of presentations, including hip pain, low back pain, altered gait, and reduced athletic performance. I enjoy assessing how it interacts with the rest of the kinetic chain rather than viewing it in isolation.
What services do you offer?
I provide evidence-based physiotherapy for a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, including spinal pain, sports injuries, joint disorders, post-operative rehabilitation, TMJ dysfunction, headaches, and chronic pain.
Treatment is individualized and may include manual therapy (mobilization/manipulation), soft tissue work (massage, dry needling/IMS, scraping, cupping), exercise prescription, movement retraining, strength and conditioning principles, education, self-management strategies and modalities (shockwave, red light therapy/laser). Throughout my career, I’ve pursued continuing education in osteopathic principles, chiropractic-inspired manual therapy techniques, and specialized TMD assessment and treatment.
