When looking to work on past hurts, or traumas you have experienced, there are many ways to do it.
At DevanCecilia Counselling, we offer a few options.
Devan offers EMDR and TIR, and Lyndsay offers IFS.
EMDR is a process of watching your memories play out like watching an awful movie, while being distracted in the present moment by eye movements, or tapping, to create disconnection from yourself and the movie. EMDR also allows the verbal, non-verbal, and body sensation memories to communicate back together to reconnect the ruptures that occurred between them all during the event.
TIR offers a very similar approach to EMDR, however this process is done by speaking the process outloud repeatedly until the intensity of the event decreases.
IFS is a process where addressing the events directly may never be spoken or returned to, as IFS looks at the parts of your that were present then, and who has come forward to keep protecting you from the impact of that event, in a way that brings kindness, compassion, and communication together to ease the distress of the memory.
