πŸ₯Ύ Trail-Ready Tuesday: Final Week! πŸ₯Ύ

It's our last Trail-Ready Tuesday! We hope you've enjoyed this series and have had the chance to explore some amazing trails this month. 🌲

For our final feature, we're focusing on balance. It's often overlooked, but balance is a key component of safe and confident hiking. Good balance helps you navigate uneven terrain, step over roots and rocks, and reduce your risk of slips and falls on the trail.

βš–οΈ Challenge yourself by standing on a pillow or cushion to practice balancing on an unstable surface. For an extra challenge, add some movement!

What's your favourite hiking trail you've explored this summer? Let us know in the comments! πŸ‘‡

Your brain, eyes, and inner ears work together to help keep you balanced every day. When these systems aren't communicating properly, symptoms like dizziness, vertigo, and balance problems can occur.

If you're experiencing balance concerns, Vestibular Rehabilitation may help.

πŸ₯Ύ Trail-Ready Tuesday: Week 3! πŸ₯Ύ

This week, we're focusing on lateral step-ups!

Lateral step-ups help improve lower body strength, balance, and stability, all of which are important when navigating roots, rocks, and changing elevations on a hike.

πŸ’ͺ As you get stronger, try increasing the height of your step to add an extra challenge!

❄️πŸ”₯ Ice vs. Heat: When Should You Use Each?

❄️ Ice is often recommended for acute injuries or when there is swelling and inflammation. It can help reduce pain and limit excessive inflammation in the early stages of an injury.

πŸ”₯ Heat is typically used for stiff muscles and joints or later in the recovery process. Heat helps increase blood flow to an area, which can promote mobility and comfort.

βš–οΈ The best choice isn't always black and white. Depending on the injury, your symptoms, and your stage of recovery, a combination of heat and ice may be the most effective option.

Every injury is unique, so if you're unsure what's right for you, a physiotherapist can help guide your recovery plan.
