Kaleigh Harper and Sydney Pipe have been selected as this year’s recipients of the Dixie Mikel Scholarship in recognition of their 2025/2026 volunteerism and commitment to Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH).
$1,250 are awarded to each recipient annually by the NHH Auxiliary Board to exceptional student volunteers who have accumulated a minimum of 80 volunteer hours at the hospital and who are currently attending or accepted to a university or college and taking courses that lead to degrees in health sciences, nursing, medical research, or biotechnology.
Rick Riley, President of the NHH Auxiliary said about the award and this year’s recipients: “The Dixie Mikel Scholarship has become a testament to the dedication, commitment and contributions of our student volunteers. Awarding these scholarships each year is a tradition that allows us to honour the memory of Dixie Mikel, while celebrating the vibrant spirit of volunteerism at NHH. I would like to thank our awards committee for their time and careful review of the many excellent applications we received. We are grateful to all those who have submitted. On behalf of the Auxiliary Board, I would like to offer our sincerest congratulations to Kaleigh and Sydney, and we wish them both the best in their academic pursuits.”
