Dear Lucas Cleveland - Lucas Cleveland for Mayor,

Cherry-picking information to suit a political narrative is concerning, particularly when it comes from someone in a position of leadership.

Editing Nicole Beatty’s statement in a way that changes its context risks misleading the very people you are asking to trust you with their vote.

Context, facts and integrity matter now more than ever.

I believe we should be able to question decisions, challenge leadership and hold elected officials accountable without selectively presenting information to influence public opinion.

I also find it troubling that I am unable to tag you on Instagram because I have been blocked from both your campaign account and the official Cobourg Mayoral Instagram account.

As a voter genuinely seeking clarity and understanding from those asking to represent our community, that doesn’t sit well with me. Particularly when one of those accounts represents a public office, not simply a political campaign.

I don’t expect everyone to agree. In fact, I welcome respectful disagreement and thoughtful conversation. But I do expect honesty, transparency and a willingness to engage with the people you serve, including those who may question or challenge you.

We all have a responsibility to consider the full context before forming opinions or sharing information. I would hope that those seeking positions of leadership would hold themselves to an even higher standard.

Our community deserves informed conversations, not further division.

Dear Lucas Cleveland - Lucas Cleveland for Mayor,

I’m sharing this short clip from your October 12, 2026 interview with Pete Fisher (Pete Fisher) of Today’s Northumberland (Today’s Northumberland ) to demonstrate just how easily information can be misconstrued when taken out of context.

Cherry-picking information to support a political narrative is embarrassing, unprofessional and, in my opinion, not how a healthy democracy should operate.

I’ve been blocked from both your campaign Instagram account and the official Cobourg Mayoral Instagram account (but looks like I can still tag you in Facebook). As a voter seeking transparency and accountability from those asking for our trust, that doesn’t sit well with me.

I encourage everyone to seek information directly from the source rather than relying on edited clips or someone else’s interpretation. We’re all adults. We don’t need to be spoon-fed a narrative when the information is readily available for us to form our own opinions.

It’s worth asking not just what’s being shared, but what’s been left out and why.

Our community deserves informed discussion and leadership that respects our ability to think for ourselves.

Cobourg deserves better. 💜

Part of loving your community is supporting local! 💜

So grateful for Haley Sawyer , the lovely owner of Haley Sawyer in our beautiful downtown Port Hope.

I actually connected with Haley through her husband Aaron, who happens to be my trainer and the owner of Feel Good Company !

I love how these little connections weave us all together in community. So grateful for the wonderful small businesses that make our downtown such a special place.

All fresh and clean, to go cast my vote and then off to the airport soon to pick up my dear friend!

Feeling beautiful after a freshen up from the talented Haley Sawyer and owner of Faun Boutique. 💜

AND… Feeling grateful for the opportunity to have my say in helping shape a community rooted in care and support for everyone who calls it home. 💜

I decided to vote in person today in Port Hope, and I plan to do the same in Cobourg later this week!

Huge thank you to Municipality of Port Hope for making the whole process so simple and seamless. There are online voting options too if getting out in person isn’t possible for you.

I’m grateful that we have this opportunity to help shape the communities we live in and the kind of care we want to see extended to everyone in them.

Our collective voice matters.

Here’s to communities where WE ALL FEEL LIKE WE BELONG. 💜

HOME. 💜

I’ve been thinking a lot about what home means lately.

Nearly 10 years ago, I fell in love with Port Hope Municipality of Port Hope . There was something about this little town that felt familiar, reminding me of places I’ve called home before. I had no idea then just how much connection I would find here, or that one day I’d be putting down roots with Todd in the town he grew up in.

I’m so grateful for the wonderful humans who make this community what it is. The people who show up, who create opportunities for connection, who give their time and energy to making this a place where we can all feel we belong.

Also… a little nod to our sibling town of Cobourg Town of Cobourg , where I’ve also found such a beautiful sense of community through my work and the many people I’ve had the privilege of getting to know. Two distinct towns with so much shared heart, and so many opportunities to care for one another.

The recent HOME TVO Docs documentary has had me reflecting even more on the privilege of having a safe place to land, and the reality that not everyone in our communities has that….

Yet. 💜

I hope we can continue to grow our understanding of what home means for each of us, recognizing that our circumstances and stories may be very different, but our need for safety and belonging is something we all share.

I’m grateful to live where the Ganaraska River meets Lake Ontario, surrounded by so many people who remind me that community is something we create together.

Here’s to continuing to look for the helpers, being one when we can, and making care contagious. 💜
