FEATURED ARTIST OF THE WEEK:
Lynda Todd is a Canadian multi-award winning artist based in Peterborough, Ontario. Specializing in tactile mixed-media art, “Please Touch” is not a slogan but rather a wholehearted invitation. Being both legally blind and colour blind, Lynda’s work explores accessibility, inclusion, and sensory engagement by challenging traditional gallery conventions. Using layered materials, raised surfaces, texture, and Braille, she creates artwork that can be experienced by a broader range of audiences, including those who are blind, have low vision, or benefit from multi-sensory engagement. Lynda’s artwork is a reminder that art is for everyone, and that art can be felt, seen, and experienced in more ways than traditional means.
Her work has been exhibited internationally and featured in galleries, community initiatives, accessibility-focused programming, publications, and the media across Canada. Most recently, she was featured in Costco Connection magazine, distributed nationally to Costco members, and in Grapevine Arts & Culture magazine.
Through both her art and advocacy, Lynda champions the belief that accessibility and artistic excellence are not separate goals, but complementary ones, which strives to create more inclusive cultural experiences for all. Lynda says “My work explores how touch can create connection, spark memory, and communicate in ways that words or images alone sometimes cannot. The tactile element is not an addition to the artwork. It is an essential part of both the meaning and the experience.”
We are so very proud to have Lynda Todd featured during our Canada Day Weekend Fine Art Exhibit, beginning June 20th. We have a plethora of amazing artwork for you to see. We can't wait to see you there!
