In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is the season of the Liver and the Wood element.
Just as plants sprout and grow upward, spring energy is about growth, expansion, and the smooth flow of Qi (vital energy).

Nutrition for Growth and Flow
Support your Liver's natural "spring cleaning" by shifting from heavy winter foods to lighter, vibrant options.
Eat Green: Incorporate young, tender plants like sprouts, dandelion greens, kale, and spinach to nourish Liver blood and aid Qi movement.
Sour & Pungent Flavours: Small amounts of lemon or apple cider vinegar in warm water can stimulate the Liver and cut through stagnation. Pungent herbs like mint, basil, and ginger also help move "stuck" energy.
Avoid: Excessive alcohol, greasy fried foods, and highly processed chemicals that overtax the Liver’s detoxification role.

Stretches to Unblock Stagnation
The Liver governs the tendons and ligaments. Stiffness in the body often reflects "stuck" Liver Qi.
Side Stretches: The Liver meridian runs along the sides of the body. Try reaching one arm overhead and leaning to the opposite side to open the ribcage.
Twists: Seated or standing spinal twists help "wring out" the internal organs and promote the smooth flow of energy.

Acupressure: LIV3 & Rib Rubbing
LIV3 (Taichong - "Great Surge"): This is the most powerful point for moving stagnant Liver Qi and reducing stress or frustration.
Location: On the top of the foot, in the hollow between the big toe and the second toe, about two finger-widths up from the webbing.
Action: Apply firm, circular pressure with your thumb for 1–2 minutes on both feet.

Rubbing the Ribcage: The Liver meridian passes along the line of the lower ribs.
Action: Use your palms to gently rub or massage the area just below your ribs in circular motions. This helps release physical tension in the "Liver area" and encourages the free flow of Qi.

Acupuncture is actually “AcuMoxa”
In Chinese, acupuncture is written as 針灸 (Zhēn Jiǔ)
針 = needle
灸 = moxibustion (fire/heat therapy using mugwort)

So the medicine is not just needling—it is needle + fire.

The core of Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine is built on three primary pillars:
針灸 (Zhēn Jiǔ) — AcuMoxa (needle + moxa)
中藥 (Zhōng Yào) — herbal medicine
食療 (Shí Liáo) — food therapy / nutrition

Together, they regulate the body, restore balance, and support natural healing.

Extended scope — the “family” and close relatives
Within clinical practice, additional methods support the core system:
拔罐 (Bá Guàn) — cupping
放血 (Fàng Xuè) — bloodletting
推拿 (Tuī Ná) — therapeutic manual therapy
氣功 (Qì Gōng) — breath and movement therapy
養生 (Yǎng Shēng) — lifestyle cultivation and prevention
