Multiple studies have found that increasing iron rich sources of food in your diet alone is almost never enough to get your iron levels to where they should be when you are in a state of deficiency or full blown anemia.
ESPECIALLY if you menstruate regularly.
I 100% support making nutritional changes that benefit how you feel, but if you are iron deficient, you most likely need more than iron rich foods to replete your iron.
Iron deficiency anemia shows up on regular screening blood work only AFTER you have become severely depleted.
But anemia doesn't happen overnight and signs of iron deficiency can be identified earlier with appropriate testing.
Sure, add in those iron rich foods in if they help you feel better, but if you're already depleted, you likely need to supplement and might even need more than what you think.
Test, treat, retest, and make sure you get your iron up to where it needs to be so you can stop pretending it is "not bad".
