Summer Solstice Incarnations... How many Summer Solstices have you experienced that are memorable to you now? Tell me about some of your June Incarnations below. I would love to hear from you!
Here are some of my own Summer Solstice Incarnations:
πΆ There was the year I was asked to be a Soloist at my own Grade 12 Graduation. I sang two old songs: One Tin Soldier (remember that one?) and To Sir With Love (a beautiful old song of thanks to my teachers). I cried during the singing so it was challenging to finish! Look these songs up now and have a listen. You will be transported, I promise.
πΆ I was a Program Coordinator for my local Boys and Girls Club as my university summer job (classes ended in April). I had my 20 children camping at Pierre Grayβs Lakes near Willmore Wilderness Park (about two hours from Jasper, Alberta). It poured during the night and my kids were wet and homesick after our day of horseback riding and canoeing. I built a fire and we stayed up all night, drying our gear and cheering each other up. I was exhausted the next day, but still awake enought to quietly redirect my little campers when I saw a black bear ahead of us on the trail.
π Did you know I was a High School teacher for over 30 years? I taught English, Social Studies, Psychology, Drama, Musical Theatre and Career Education. So ... another Solstice Memory are the 30 plus Graduations I had to attend as a staff member. The slide shows did me in! The thank youβs from students clutched my heart ... every single year. The weirdest part of attending so many grads? The students remained the same age ... 17 or 18 every year, but I kept getting older! Very surreal I must tell you!
Do my shared memories stir some of your own? Please share them with us here.
I hope you create new memories this Solstice. Me? I will be hosting my usual Solstice event at my home. We will gather to share what brings us Light, play some lawn games, and feast!
Before I say goodbye for now, I thank those of you who purchased my book and left reviews on Amazon and GoodReads. Thank you from my heart. Your support of my work is a game changer.
