There is no ideal shoe. Take some time to explore different options and find what is best for you.

Some recommended brands to consider would be: New Balance, Asics, Saucony, Hoka, Brooks. Don’t be shy and feel the need to stick with “Men's” or “Women's” shoes. The difference between the two are often 1.5 sizes (For example, Men’s 7 = Women’s 8.5). This can widen your horizon, especially when looking for specific features.

You’re also not alone in this process. If you ever have questions about finding the right footwear for you, speak with your chiropodist!

Callused skin are areas of thickened skin that look larger and more yellow compared to the rest of your feet. They can be found anywhere on the foot.

Callus is formed when there's increased, abnormal pressure, against the skin. This is the body's way of trying to protect the area, so that the skin does not breakdown easily.

While the callus tries to provide protection, the thickened skin itself can add to the abnormal pressure. This can result in breakdown of the skin, but in deeper layers under the callus, where we might see dried blood. This can be painful or can lead to a bigger wound, which is why we need to remove any pressure.

Visit your chiropodist to remove callus and speak with them for more information!
