Pain is more than an injury.

Your nervous system, sleep, stress levels, previous experiences, and emotional state can all influence how pain is experienced.

So when pain sticks around, the answer isn’t always to keep treating the same painful spot.

Sometimes, you need to look at the bigger picture.

Swipe through to see why. 👀

If you’ve been dealing with persistent pain and aren’t sure what’s keeping it going, book an assessment and let’s take a closer look.

Your body doesn't move in isolated parts.

When one joint is restricted or weak, the rest of the chain has to compensate, which is why your knee pain might not actually start at your knee.

Physiotherapy looks at the whole chain, not just where it hurts.

The sore spot isn't always the whole story. 👀

Staying injury-free probably has less to do with luck than you think 👀

It’s warming up before training.
It’s sticking with rehab.
It’s showing up for physio.
It’s knowing when NOT to follow the latest fitness trend.
And, most importantly… actually listening to your physiotherapist. 😅

None of it sounds particularly exciting.

But consistency with the basics can make a big difference in how you move, train, and recover.

The boring stuff really does add up. 💪

Save this as a little reminder to stay consistent with the basics.

Hip arthritis can affect more than just your hip.

When hip movement becomes painful or restricted, your body may start compensating by placing extra stress on other areas, including the knees, lower back, and opposite hip.

The good news is that early management can make a difference. Exercise, strength training, load management, and physiotherapy can help support joint function and keep you moving.

And remember, surgery isn't always the first or only option.

👉 Swipe through to learn how hip arthritis can affect your entire movement pattern.

Stretching isn't always the answer. 🤔

It's important to know when stretching may not be the right approach.

When There Is Active Inflammation
- If your knee is swollen, warm, or acutely painful, stretching aggravates the tissue. That is a phase for rest and compression, not range of motion work.

When the Structure Needs Stability, Not Mobility
- After a ligament sprain or early meniscus injury, the priority is protecting healing tissue. Stretching too soon stresses structures that are not ready for it.

When Pain Increases During or After the Stretch
- Pain during stretching is not always a sign to push through. If it consistently gets worse, the tissue is not ready and the approach needs to be reassessed.

Most of us finish work and head straight to the couch. 😅

But after hours of sitting, standing, or repeating the same movements, your body may benefit from gentle movement, not just additional rest.

Swipe through for five simple ways to help your body unwind and recover after a long day at work. They're easy to fit into your routine and may help you feel better and more refreshed for the next day.

📌 Save this for your next workday, and send it to someone who always says they're "too tired" after work.

Every clinic has one. 😂

Tag the coworker who's always the practice patient!

We hear these questions almost every day in the clinic, and they're all great questions to ask. 👇

➡️ "Should I stop exercising if it hurts?"
Not necessarily. Some discomfort can be normal during recovery, but sharp or worsening pain is a sign to adjust what you're doing. A physiotherapist can help you find the right balance.

➡️ "Do I need a scan before seeing a physio?"
Usually not. Many muscle and joint conditions can be assessed without imaging. If further testing is needed, your physiotherapist can guide you.

➡️ "Should I use ice or heat?"
It depends on the injury. Ice may help with a new injury or swelling, while heat is often better for relieving muscle tightness and stiffness.

➡️ "How long will recovery take?"
Every recovery is different. Your progress depends on the type of injury, your overall health, and how consistently you follow your rehabilitation plan.

➡️ "Will I get exercises to do at home?"
Absolutely. Home exercises are an important part of recovery and help you continue making progress between appointments.
