🩵 Have you ever wondered why some people crave reassurance when they're upset, while others need space and time to process?

Attachment theory offers one way of understanding how we seek connection, respond to stress, and navigate relationships. And despite what social media sometimes suggests, attachment styles are not personality types, labels, or life sentences.

In our newest blog, we explore:

✔️ The four attachment styles
✔️ What attachment wounds are (and what they aren't)
✔️ How attachment patterns show up in relationships, friendships, parenting, and family dynamics
✔️ Why secure attachment isn't about perfection
✔️ Whether attachment styles can change
✔️ How counselling can help build greater attachment security

One of our favourite reminders from this article:

✨ Attachment styles are strategies, not character flaws.

When your mind is full, it can be hard to tell the difference between a problem that needs solving and a thought that's simply taking up space.

This 10-minute writing exercise is designed to help you slow down, organize your thoughts, and gain perspective. The goal isn't to write something meaningful or polished—it's to create space between yourself and the mental noise.

Try it today:
✔ Set a timer for 10 minutes
✔ Write whatever comes to mind without editing
✔ Reflect on what you notice afterward

Sometimes clarity doesn't come from thinking harder—it comes from getting your thoughts out of your head and onto paper.

Have you ever noticed a difference in your mood after journaling?

Many of us were taught that being hard on ourselves is what keeps us motivated.

But self-criticism and accountability are not the same thing.

When we respond to our struggles with harsh judgment, we may become stuck in cycles of shame, avoidance, or self-doubt. Self-compassion offers another path: acknowledging what’s difficult while still treating ourselves with honesty and care.

It isn’t about lowering standards or overlooking mistakes. It’s about creating enough emotional safety to learn, adapt, and move forward.

The way we speak to ourselves matters.

If you’re interested in exploring self-compassion, emotional resilience, or healing old patterns, you’re welcome to learn more about our services through the link in our bio. We’d be happy to connect.

Counselling can be a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand yourself.

You don’t need to have all the answers before you arrive. Simply showing up with openness and honesty is enough. Small insights and small steps can create meaningful change over time.

If you’ve been considering support, this may be your reminder that you don’t have to navigate everything on your own.

Sometimes healing looks less like huge breakthroughs and more like small moments of listening to yourself differently.
Not pushing past exhaustion.
Not forcing yourself to perform okay.
Not treating your needs like inconveniences.
Tiny supportive choices matter.

If you’re navigating stress, burnout, anxiety, people-pleasing, or emotional overwhelm, therapy can offer a space to slow down and reconnect with yourself with compassion and support.

Do you know what EMDR is?

Short answer: It’s a specialized type of therapy that many of our Registered Clinical Counsellors at Kayda Health are trained in. Highly effective, backed by decades of research, and looks different than what most people think of when imagining a therapy session.

Long Answer: Go check out this video where our Clinic Owner, Thea Megas, goes through what EMDR is and how it works in the simplest language possible.

High-functioning anxiety is often misunderstood because it doesn’t always *look* like anxiety.

Sometimes it looks like:
being dependable,
high-achieving,
organized,
or “the one who always has it together.”

But underneath that can be constant pressure, overthinking, and emotional exhaustion.

Many people learn to cope by staying productive — but eventually the nervous system still asks for rest.

You deserve support that helps you feel safe slowing down, not just functioning at full capacity.

✨ Feel free to reach out if you’re ready for support navigating anxiety, burnout, or overwhelm
