Patient care continues to progress at CCH. Cornwall Community Hospital has recently taken the opportunity to upgrade our MRI, with state-of-the-art capabilities for diagnostic imaging. Stay tuned for more news as our Hospital Foundation prepares to support an upcoming local first, MRI for breast cancer patients right here at home.
In this month’s Behind the Scenes column in the Standard-Freeholder, President & CEO Jeanette Despatie highlights a major upgrade within our Diagnostic Services Department.
Our Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system has undergone a complete refit, replacing key components and software systems while retaining the core magnet. The result is a significantly modernized system with improved imaging performance and faster processing.
Originally planned for 2027, the project was accelerated so these enhancements could be delivered to our community one year earlier than anticipated, supporting improved access to care and reduced wait times.
The upgraded system also positions us for expanded capability, including a planned breast MRI service later this year, bringing this advanced imaging option to CCH for the first time. We will be working with the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation this summer to help bring this exciting addition to our community.
