âWhy canât I just get rid of my anxiety?â
This is something I hear all the time.
Hereâs the truth:
Your anxiety isnât a flaw; itâs a protective response.
Your brain and body are wired to keep you safe. When they perceive stress, uncertainty or past patterns that felt unsafe, they activate a response to prepare you to stay alert, think ahead & not let your guard down.
The problem is, your system doesnât always know the difference between real danger and learned danger.
So even when youâre technically safe, you might still feel:
â on edge
â overwhelmed
â stuck in your thoughts
â physically anxious (racing heart, tension, nausea, etc.)
And that can be exhaustingâŚ
Therapy isnât about turning anxiety off,
Itâs about helping your nervous system learn something new.
Together, we can work on:
â understanding what your anxiety is trying to do for you
â identifying the patterns itâs following
â gently teaching your body how to come back to safety
â building tools that actually work for you
Because real change doesnât come from fighting your anxiety, it comes from understanding it.
Youâre not broken, your system just learned to survive in a certain way but, it can learn something new.
