🍽️ Hear fine at home but struggle in noisy restaurants?

You’re not alone. Background conversations, music, kitchen noise, and echoes can make understanding speech surprisingly difficult—even if a basic hearing test looks normal.

👂 Speech-in-noise testing can help identify why conversations become challenging in busy environments and determine which solutions may help.

Simple strategies like choosing quieter seating, facing the person speaking, and reducing background noise can make a big difference. Hearing technology and remote microphones may also help.

If noisy restaurants leave you frustrated or exhausted, schedule a hearing evaluation. 519-813-9696

👂 Is your hearing aid whistling?

That high-pitched squeal can be frustrating—but it’s often fixable!

Common causes include:

Earwax buildup

A loose or poorly fitting dome/earmold

A blocked wax filter or tubing

Changes in your hearing or hearing aid settings

Damaged or worn components

🔎 Try reseating your hearing aid, checking for visible buildup or damage, and cleaning it as recommended by the manufacturer.

If the whistling continues, it may be time for a professional hearing aid check. You may not need new hearing aids—sometimes a simple adjustment, cleaning, or repair can solve the problem.

👂 Is Earwax Bad for Your Ears?

The short answer: No! Earwax (cerumen) is actually helpful. It protects your ear canal from debris, germs, and dryness—and most ears naturally clean themselves.

🚫 Skip the cotton swabs! Putting them inside your ear can push wax deeper and cause a blockage.

Too much earwax can lead to:
• Muffled or reduced hearing
• Ringing or buzzing (tinnitus)
• Earache or fullness
• Dizziness or balance issues
• Odor or discharge

If you’re experiencing these symptoms, it’s best to have your ears checked by a hearing professional or healthcare provider rather than trying to remove impacted wax yourself.

Keep your ears healthy and your hearing clear! 👂❤️ Contact us at 519-813-9696 if you have concerns about earwax buildup or changes in your hearing.

👂 Could It Be Time for a Hearing Test?

Hearing loss often happens gradually, making it easy to overlook the early signs. If you've noticed any of these, it may be time to schedule a hearing evaluation:

✅ You avoid social gatherings because conversations are difficult.
✅ You feel unusually tired or have trouble remembering things.
✅ Voices sound muffled or distant.
✅ You struggle to understand conversations, especially certain sounds.
✅ You frequently turn up the TV or phone volume.
✅ You often ask people to repeat themselves.
✅ You have difficulty following conversations in noisy places.

The sooner hearing concerns are identified, the sooner you can take steps to improve your hearing and stay connected to the people and moments that matter most.

📞 If you or a loved one are experiencing these signs, contact us today 519-813-9696 to schedule a hearing test. Early action can make a big difference!
