Art Therapy is the use of drawing and other art forms in a therapeutic setting to facilitate sharing and discussion between the client and the therapist. It is a non-verbal psychotherapy that came into prominence in the 1930’s. There are two basic concepts in art therapy theory: art is a healing form of expression, and there are strong connections between a person’s expression through art and the person’s psychological health.

Grief can be complicated. Although she was a celebrity, many folks are grieving the loss of the Queen Dolly Parton because she felt like a warm friend, for decades.
What’s your favourite Dolly moment?

If you feel like you’re always snacking…
even when you’re not hungry

this might be why 👇

adhd brains need more stimulation
and food is one of the fastest ways to get it

so it can look like:
→ eating when you’re bored
→ needing something crunchy or chewy
→ craving bold flavors like salty, sweet, sour, spicy
→ grazing all day without noticing
→ eating while scrolling, working, watching tv
→ reaching for food when you’re overwhelmed

this isn’t random
and it’s not a lack of discipline

it’s your brain trying to get what it needs

but when food becomes your main source of stimulation - especially when it’s combined with the effects of diet culture, emotional dysregulation, and under-eating earlier in the day - that’s when it starts to feel out of control

this is the part most people miss

you don’t need more restriction

you need a way to:
→ eat consistently
→ feel satisfied
→ support your brain in other ways

this is exactly what we work on inside food freedom with adhd

if you see yourself in this, you’re not alone
and you don’t have to keep doing this cycle

Stoked to get back to sessions tomorrow. Weirdest summer.. ever. This summer has been a lot of FOMO for me, as I’ve been taking care of other family needs. Not enough sunny adventures.

Disappointment happens.
Gratitude, taking breaks, 🎾 as much humanly possible, putting down my phone, kitten & kid cuddles and making art help me. What helps you get through tough times? How is your resiliency?

🤙 Therapy & coping skills work.

🍃 Hopefully my wee holiday Aug 29-Sept 2 will be leisure full?
💥Jane app and online booking mid Sept- Jan 2027 COMING SOON!

🌡 A Yellow Heat Warning remains in effect for the Comox Valley.

Check in on family, friends, and neighbours, especially older adults, young children, people with health conditions, and anyone living alone.

💧 Helping someone cool down and rehydrate early can prevent heat-related illness and may save a life.

Community centres, libraries, splash parks, misting stations, and other public spaces across the Comox Valley provide places to cool down during their regular operating hours.

🌡 A Yellow Heat Warning is in effect for the Comox Valley.

A Yellow Heat Warning means daytime and overnight temperatures will be unusually high for at least two consecutive days and may pose a moderate health risk, particularly for people who are more sensitive to heat.

Take steps now to stay cool:
☀️ Avoid direct sun during the hottest part of the day.
🌳 Seek shade or spend time in cool, air-conditioned spaces.
💧 Drink water regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty.
