One of the hardest paths clients walk comes about when they go no contact with someone. It’s rarely as simple as just walking away.
Sometimes it’s grieving a relationship with someone who is still alive. Sometimes it’s accepting that the relationship you desperately wanted may never be the one you’re able to have.
And the decision is never simple.
There’s guilt. Family expectations. Cultural beliefs. Financial dependence. Fear of regret. The hope that maybe, *this time*, things will be different.
There can also be love. Loving someone and recognizing that a relationship is hurting you aren’t mutually exclusive.
For some, no contact is a necessary step toward safety and healing. For others, limited contact, firmer boundaries, or taking some space might feel more appropriate.
You can miss someone and still need distance. You can feel guilty and still make a decision that protects your wellbeing. It’s kind of a both/and situation.
And you can grieve a relationship even when you’re the one who chose to step away. ❤️
