Rumor has it, it takes three months to witness enough of someone before you can even decide if you like them as a person. Research shows that having s*x with someone early clouds your ability to discern whether or not they are actually a fit. Sexual intimacy releases the bonding hormone oxytocin into our systems. For men, it stays in the system for three days. Women…30 days. This is why it is so hard for women to have casual s*x.

Polyvagal theory tells us that our mental health is actually a strong driver of our physical health. When we neurocept danger and our survival response kicks in, we’re often not aware of it as it’s happening until it’s already in motion. I wouldn’t necessarily say flip the table, but find a healthy way to digest that emotion. And make sure those boundaries are strong so you can hold on to yourself.
