First Aid Training Saves Lives!

When Alan Hollett suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at the Atlantic Tennis Centre in Bedford, NS, every second counted.

Without hesitation, Dave O'Laughlin and Joe Seagram stepped in, immediately beginning CPR and using an AED until first responders arrived. Their quick actions and first aid training helped save Alan's life.

For their extraordinary response, Dave and Joe were presented with a St. John Ambulance Lifesaving Award at Government House. The most meaningful part of the day? Alan was there to thank the two people who gave him a second chance. ❤️

Knowing CPR and how to use an AED can make all the difference in an emergency. Learn the skills that save lives, you never know when someone will need you.

Wildfire smoke can affect your health.

Be aware of smoke safety:
-Limit your exposure: watch air pollution reports and consider reducing strenuous outdoor activities.
-Know your risk: air quality affects everyone. Some can be more affected than others, such as people with some health conditions, older adults, pregnant people, people who work or exercise heavily outdoors, infants and young children.
-Watch for symptoms: coughing, scratchy throat, irritated sinuses, shortness of breath, chest pain, headaches, or worsening of asthma symptoms.
-When there is an extreme heat event occurring with wildfire smoke, prioritize keeping cool.
