Monday came and went quietly, but it was our THIRD birthday!
Just over 3 years ago, we conceptualized a mental health clinic in our community that was anything but clinical feeling - we envisioned forming a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team who prioritized a mind-body approach to mental health and overall wellness. We wanted our clinic to have a relaxed vibe and for our team to feel supported and enjoy coming into work! We wanted to build trust and a reputation of dependability and quality within our community.
And we did it!🎉
Brightside is not a slick franchise... we are a family and practitioner - owned and operated business. We are super proud of our team and grateful for all of our clients, who allow us to do what we love, every day. Thank you.🙏

Yesterday, Fireside's manager, Lauren Brady and counselling intern, Ruth Shelton took a field trip to The Marguerite Centre to drop off some information about Fireside Counselling and make an in-person connection. Intake and outreach coordinator, Claire, gave them a tour and discussed possibilities for collaboration!

The Marguerite Centre is a place of healing for women recovering from addiction and is the only facility of its kind in Nova Scotia. It provides a holistic, women-centred approach to recovery from substance misuse and gambling addiction. They are an inclusive, safe, non-judgmental environment; free from discrimination and available regardless of economic status.

Residents receive their own room and are empowered to create their own path to healing and recovery. Counsellors work with them to develop personal and family plans and goals.

Fireside Counselling is a student-run counselling service, located within the Brightside Integrated Health clinic, at 250 Baker Drive in Dartmouth.

Counselling is provided by Masters-level practicum students, under the supervision of licensed Brightside therapists.

We are an affordable option for those who do not have adequate insurance benefits, and for whom the cost of private therapy is a barrier to receiving quality care. The fee is $40.00 per 50-minute counselling session.

For a limited time, we are offering a FREE introductory session to new clients. If you have been thinking about starting therapy, but are feeling a bit hesitant, you can try it out with no commitment!

Our counselling interns work with adults, youth (12+), couples and families! They offer both in-person and virtual sessions.

The goal of the Student Wellness Day Fair was to provide students with meaningful resources and information on mental and social wellness and we were honoured to be invited!
