A big thank you to Youth of Today Society, Shakat Media and Cuso International for their help to make this project a reality!

A look back at our recent mural project in Dawson City 🎨✨**
Our recent project in Dawson City was something special. Over two busy and creative weeks, youth came together to paint, learn, experiment, make films, take photographs, meet artists, and enjoy the last weeks of summer before heading back to school.
The main mural, designed and executed by Lance Burton, depicts two individuals reaching for the stars above some of Dawson City's most iconic historical buildings. Alongside it, Dawson youth designed and painted their own smaller mural, adding their own ideas and creativity to the project.
Our partner, the Willow Foundation, generously opened their space to us and helped organize 11 local youth to participate. Their support helped create two weeks packed with activities and opportunities for young people to try something new.
There was a lot happening! Shakat Media Inc. created a mini documentary about the entire project. Agnieszka Pajor from Youth of Today Society led a photography workshop, and two local youth took and edited multiple beautiful portraits. Karl Romero led video workshops, which resulted in two scary movies being directed, filmed, and edited by a group of local youth.
The Willow Foundation and local community members also offered additional workshops, from soapstone carving and cooking to hand games and other activities.
But beyond the murals and workshops, one of the best parts was simply getting to know the youth and the community. There was lots of creativity, laughter, learning, time spent together, and opportunities to connect with artists and try new things.
By the end of the two weeks, we had two murals, photographs, films, new skills, new connections, and hopefully a few great memories from the summer.
A huge thank you to all of our partners, funders, supporters, helpers, volunteers, local artists, and everyone who contributed their time and energy to make this project happen. It truly took many amazing people working together to bring it all to life. ❤️🎨📷🎬

We had an amazing time with the youth at the Willow Foundation today! We had 9 youth who all worked very hard and accomplished a lot for their first day of work on this 2 week project!

The portrait photography workshop was a hit and will continue for the full two weeks along with 7 other dynamic workshops. Tomorrow Nishka is bringing her bubble machine!

Be sure to check out all the workshops going on again tomorrow at Willow Foundation and the TH Hall from 6pm - 8 pm!

Thank you to the Youth of Today Society and CUSo International for making this possible!

Workshops are free and available for anyone 12 -30 years old. 30+ are welcome to drop by and check out the workshops as well.
