Teachers, make room for yourself on the schedule. ⬇️
Between standing all day, looking down to grade, reaching for supplies, lifting bins, using your voice nonstop, and somehow doing 12 jobs at once, the first few weeks back can be a lot on your body.
Save these physio-backed tips before we dive into the school year:
▫️For foot pain + tired legs:
Try calf raises, foot rolling, supportive shoes, and changing positions when you can.
▫️For neck + shoulder tension:
Try shoulder blade squeezes, doorway pec stretches, shoulder rolls, and jaw relaxation.
▫️For looking down to grade:
Bring your work higher when possible, add chin tucks, and move your upper back through gentle rotations.
▫️For reaching + lifting:
Try wall slides, light band work, and keeping the things you use most in places that do not require a full overhead reach every time.
▫️For voice fatigue:
Try breathing resets, shoulder drops, jaw relaxation, and small quiet breaks when you can.
These are small habits, but they can make a BIG difference when your workday asks the same things from your body over and over again.
If the same aches show up every school year, physio can help you build strength, mobility, and recovery strategies that actually fit the way you work.
