🏡✨ Bulterys House is more than a place to stay. It is a community built on compassion, support, and care. Since opening our doors, we have supported 615 individuals and families during some of life’s most challenging moments. While the numbers tell part of the story, we see the people behind them. Thank you to everyone across the region whose support makes this vital resource possible and available to those who need it most! 🫂🤝❤️

🌎 International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples was established by the United Nations to recognize and celebrate the rights, cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples around the world. 🍃 It is an important opportunity to honour the rich diversity, resilience, and achievements of Indigenous communities while reflecting on the ongoing journey toward understanding, respect, and reconciliation. 🧡🪶
At Bulterys House, we are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment where all guests feel valued, respected, and supported. We embrace people of all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and lived experiences, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone who stays with us. 🧡🪶
We recognize the significance of Indigenous cultures, histories, and ways of knowing, and we actively seek opportunities to learn from, celebrate, and support Indigenous communities throughout the Peace Region. Through our social media platforms, we have proudly highlighted community events such as the Saulteau First Nations Annual Pemmican Days and the Spirit of the Peace Competition, helping to showcase cultural celebrations, community achievements, and Indigenous traditions. 🧡🪶
Bulterys House supports a holistic approach to care that acknowledges the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. As part of our commitment to cultural humility, understanding, and reconciliation, cross-cultural training is available to staff. Our Program Director has also completed training through the 'A Path Forward to Truth and Reconciliation Conference' and pursued studies in Anthropology: Indigenous Worldviews. 📚 These educational opportunities have deepened our understanding of Indigenous histories, perspectives, and experiences, supporting our ongoing efforts to build respectful relationships, encourage meaningful dialogue, and contribute to reconciliation in a thoughtful and informed way.
We are proud to welcome guests from Indigenous communities and from communities across the region. By fostering a culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive space, we remain committed to continual learning, growth, and the development of authentic relationships that honour and reflect the diversity of the people we serve. ❤️❤️

🌟 🌟

Looking back to last year's Fall Fair Parade, Bulterys House offered the perfect spot to take in the excitement as our community came together to celebrate. It was a wonderful opportunity for guests to experience the spirit, energy, and pride that make our region so special. 🏡✨

Moments like these remind us of the importance of connection, belonging, and community support ...

As we reflect on these happy memories, we remain hopeful that our region will continue to champion the future of Bulterys House, ensuring it can keep providing comfort, care, and support for families who need it most.

Together, we are stronger. ✊💕

🚗 Transportation Support for Medical Travel 🚗💨 Not everyone who needs to travel for medical care has access to a vehicle. Many of our house guests rely on services like TR Cares when they don't have transportation of their own.
Because transportation shouldn't be another barrier to accessing health care, TR Cares offers volunteer transportation services to help people get where they need to go for medical appointments.

to last year’s Health Expo, where we proudly shared information about Bulterys House—a vital resource for people across the Peace Region!
As we look to the future, we remain hopeful that we can secure its future and continue providing the comfort, support, and peace of mind that individuals and families rely on during times of medical travel.
💙 Together, we can help ensure this important community service remains available for those who need it most.

A new story will soon be released, with more house guests courageously coming forward to share their experiences — including a maternity house guest.
Recent headlines highlighted a concerning situation where a woman was forced to give birth on the side of the Trans Canada highway in New Brunswick. While not every story ends this way, it underscores a very real risk faced by families in rural communities when access to care isn’t close by.
Medical lodging matters. Spaces like Bulterys House give expectant mothers and families a safe place to stay close to care — instead of being sent home and risking going into active labour on the highway.
The families we support are grateful they have this option. Not every story will have a positive outcome when urgent care is needed — and that’s why this work is so important.
Bulterys House is so important — it matters for the safety, care, and peace of mind of the families who rely on it. 💛

🍃 You may notice the raised garden bed/rock garden on the property, featuring painted rocks created by community members to show their support for the guests at Bulterys House. Each one is a small but meaningful reminder of the care and encouragement that surrounds this place. 🏡
We also see someone added tiny baby footprints to the fence. It makes us wonder if they knew that we proudly support expectant mothers ... 🤰🏻🤱💛 💛

A little kindness goes a long way … And this moment is still blooming in our hearts. 💛 One of our house guests left a beautiful parting gift for the team—flowers 🌸—as a simple yet meaningful, “thank you.” Gestures like this remind us why we do what we do. It’s not just about providing support—it’s about building genuine connections, mutual appreciation, and a true sense of home. 🏡
We’re so grateful to have been part of their journey, and even more grateful for the thoughtfulness they shared with us on their way forward. Moments like these also remind us just how special this place is—and how deeply it would be felt if we ever had to close our doors. 💔🏚
