🌎 International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples was established by the United Nations to recognize and celebrate the rights, cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples around the world. 🍃 It is an important opportunity to honour the rich diversity, resilience, and achievements of Indigenous communities while reflecting on the ongoing journey toward understanding, respect, and reconciliation. 🧡🪶
At Bulterys House, we are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment where all guests feel valued, respected, and supported. We embrace people of all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and lived experiences, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone who stays with us. 🧡🪶
We recognize the significance of Indigenous cultures, histories, and ways of knowing, and we actively seek opportunities to learn from, celebrate, and support Indigenous communities throughout the Peace Region. Through our social media platforms, we have proudly highlighted community events such as the Saulteau First Nations Annual Pemmican Days and the Spirit of the Peace Competition, helping to showcase cultural celebrations, community achievements, and Indigenous traditions. 🧡🪶
Bulterys House supports a holistic approach to care that acknowledges the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. As part of our commitment to cultural humility, understanding, and reconciliation, cross-cultural training is available to staff. Our Program Director has also completed training through the 'A Path Forward to Truth and Reconciliation Conference' and pursued studies in Anthropology: Indigenous Worldviews. 📚 These educational opportunities have deepened our understanding of Indigenous histories, perspectives, and experiences, supporting our ongoing efforts to build respectful relationships, encourage meaningful dialogue, and contribute to reconciliation in a thoughtful and informed way.
We are proud to welcome guests from Indigenous communities and from communities across the region. By fostering a culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive space, we remain committed to continual learning, growth, and the development of authentic relationships that honour and reflect the diversity of the people we serve. ❤️❤️
