Halloween has always been a favourite around here. 🖤

There’s something special about a day that invites a little imagination, creativity, nostalgia — and maybe a bit of spooky fun.

So, we're hosting a little Halloween naming contest, and we need YOUR help!

In celebration of Abby opening her practice, we thought it would be a great opportunity to get to know her a little better! 🌿

Meet Abby, the face behind Family Acupuncture! 👋🏻

Born and raised in the Truro area, Abby's journey into healthcare began at just 19 years old, when her own health challenges introduced her to acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Her personal experiences sparked an appreciation for this approach to healthcare and eventually inspired her to pursue a career helping others navigate their own health journeys.

Abby completed her Bachelor of Science in Bioveterinary Science, with a minor in Animal Agriculture and a certificate in Genetics and Molecular Biology, before graduating from the Autumn Institute of Health in August 2026 with her Diploma of Acupuncture.

Her approach to treatment emphasizes whole-body care, taking the time to listen to her patients and understand their individual needs. Through Family Acupuncture, she hopes to create a welcoming and comfortable environment where patients feel heard, supported, and involved in their care.

Abby has particular interests in pediatrics, cancer care, nutrition, and women's health. She is especially passionate about developing a family-centred practice, supporting patients of all ages with a variety of TCM techniques, including gentle, needle-free treatment options for children.

Outside of practice, you'll find Abby spending time with her husband and dogs, enjoying a good coffee, gardening, hiking, or finding any excuse to soak up some sunshine!

We're excited to have Abby sharing the Saltpoint Health space and look forward to watching Family Acupuncture grow!

Why is my osteopath assessing somewhere that doesn't hurt? 🤔

It's a great question, and one we hear often!

Our bodies don't function as isolated parts. Muscles, joints, connective tissues, and other structures work together to support movement and everyday activities.

Sometimes, an area that isn't painful may still have restrictions in mobility or function that influence how other areas of the body move and adapt.

That's why your osteopath may assess your hips when you're experiencing back pain, or look at your upper back when your neck is bothering you.

The goal? To better understand how your body is functioning as a whole, rather than focusing solely on where you're experiencing discomfort.

At Saltpoint Health, we take an individualized approach to assessment and treatment, recognizing that there's often more to the picture than where it hurts.
