Radiating leg pain is not always random, and it is not always technically “sciatica.”
When a nerve root in the lower back becomes irritated, compressed, or inflamed, symptoms can travel into specific areas of the thigh, leg, foot, or toes. These patterns are connected to what we call dermatomes, which are areas of the body supplied by specific nerve roots.
That is why two people can both have radiating leg pain, but feel it in completely different places.
At Medispine, we do not rely on the pain pattern alone. We look at your strength, reflexes, sensation, mobility, posture, daily habits, and health history to better understand what may be irritating the nerve.
Because radiating pain can have different causes, it needs the right plan. At Medispine, we have different tools to help, including hands-on therapy, targeted exercises, mobility work, posture and lifestyle recommendations, and when appropriate, SpineMED decompression.
We are one of the first clinics in Atlantic Canada to offer SpineMED, a decompression technology designed to target specific spinal levels with precision.
You do not have to keep guessing.
Book your assessment and let’s find the right approach for your spine. 🤍
