Batoche Homeland Métis Local #51 is once again offering our Fiddle and Jig Tour 2.0 welcoming back Métis fiddle player Jason Lepine and Michif Singer/Guitarist Lionel Desjarlais to daycares and elementary schools across the region. Joining them is Jigger Amy Seesequasis. For five days this October, we’ll be bringing Métis culture right into classrooms with live fiddle music, jigging, and Métis cultural teachings. Each day we’ll start in the mornings with daycares and kindergarten classes, then move into a full school assembly in the afternoon so older students can experience it together.
We have fifteen shows planned between October 26th and 30th, and we’re building our route now. To make the most of our time, we’ll keep daycares in the same community as the schools we’re visiting that day.
If you’re a principal, teacher, or daycare director who wants to bring this experience to your students during that week, send us a message or call Métis Local #51 to get your name on the list. And even if you were on the list last year, go ahead and put yourself on again, we never know which communities will reach out, and we want to make sure everyone who’s interested gets a chance. Once we see where the interest is, we’ll confirm which communities we’ll be in and reach out with available times.
Maarsii, to everyone who welcomed us last year, over 1000 children and youth were involved . The kids’ excitement and your support made it so special. We’re looking forward to sharing the Fiddle and the jig with more classrooms this October.
If you’d like to book the Fiddle & Jig Tour for October 26–30, 2026, drop your school/daycare name and community below to get on the list, tag them in the post etc. Or call/text Liana at 306 401 8448. We’ll reach out once we confirm our route. Parents, teachers, daycare specialists please share this post so other schools and daycares see it too, or let them know about it!
