✨Meet Mary Jane ✨

Mary Jane has been part of the Darte team for six and a half years. One of her favourite parts of her job is meeting families, hearing their stories and learning about the interesting lives of the people they are remembering. She especially loves looking through the family photo boards and seeing all the memories shared through the years.

When she’s not at the funeral home, Mary Jane loves to travel, read, paint and knit. She also loves working alongside the Darte team and being part of the support we provide to families each day.

✨Meet Anna!✨

Anna’s journey has taken her from growing up in St. Davids to working in Toronto with IBM and McIntosh computers, before returning to a simpler life where she and her husband raised their children and lived off the land for 30 wonderful years.

After the passing of her husband, Anna found a new purpose at George Darte Funeral Home, where her compassion, resilience, and caring heart continue to make a meaningful difference for the families we serve every day.
We’re so grateful to have Anna as part of our team. Thank you for the kindness and comfort you bring to our George Darte family!

✨ Meet James! ✨

James is one of the newest faces at George Darte, joining our team almost three months ago as a Funeral Event Planner. He has enjoyed settling into his new role and being part of the team that supports our families each day.

Outside of work, James and his partner are longtime dachshund lovers! They have two of their own, a brother-and-sister duo named Margot and Gunther. 🐾 We’re so happy to have James as part of the Darte team!

A heartfelt thank you to this incredibly talented volunteer for donating these beautiful hand-knit baby blankets and keepsakes to our Baby Program.

Each blanket has been made with care, love, and compassion, offering comfort to families experiencing the unimaginable loss of a baby. These thoughtful gifts will become treasured keepsakes, reminding families that they are not alone during one of life’s most difficult moments.

We are so grateful for your generosity and for sharing your talent to support families in our community.

✨ Meet Karen! ✨

Karen has been a comforting and welcoming presence at the funeral home for 10 years. As the first friendly face many families see when they walk through our doors, she has a special way of making people feel welcomed and cared for from the very beginning.

As a key member of our management team and the glue that holds our reception staff together, Karen helps make sure everything runs smoothly while always keeping our families at the heart of what she does.
And if you ask anyone around the office, they’ll probably also tell you about her famous banana bread — always guaranteed to brighten the team’s day! 🍌

We’re so lucky to have Karen as such an important part of the George Darte family!

George and Ozzie… two tough guys, one very sore shoulder, and apparently the sling is now part of the outfit. 😂❤️

Wishing you a speedy recovery, George! Take it easy, let that shoulder heal, and enjoy being spoiled a little.

✨ Meet Tiffany! ✨

Tiffany has been part of the George Darte team since September, and we’re so lucky to have her! Outside of work, she teaches dance and loves sharing that passion with others. 💃

When she’s not at the funeral home or in the studio, you’ll probably find her at the beach enjoying the sunshine. One thing everyone notices about Tiffany? She’s always so put together and brings such a positive energy wherever she goes.

Thank you, Tiffany, for everything you do and for the kindness and care you bring to the families we serve.

You’re invited to our upcoming Death Café and Yard Sale at George Darte Funeral Home.

A Death Café is a welcoming space where people can come together to talk openly about death, dying, grief, and living well. There’s no presentation, no expectations, and no pressure to share—just coffee, conversation, and the opportunity to connect with others.

We’ll also have a community yard sale, with coffee, tea, light refreshments, and hot dogs available by donation.

📅 Saturday, August 8
⏰ 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
📍 George Darte Funeral Home

The event is free to attend, and registration is encouraged. To reserve your spot, please contact Susan Kalchman at 905-937-4444.
We hope you’ll join us for a morning of conversation, connection, and community.
