🤍 Accepting New Clients 🤍

Pregnancy changes so much.

Sometimes the shifts are subtle. Sometimes they happen all at once.

You may notice changes in your thoughts, emotions, relationships, body, or sense of self. Along with excitement can come worry, overwhelm, uncertainty, and stress.

And after baby arrives, the transition into motherhood can bring a whole new set of challenges and emotions.

You don’t have to carry it all on your own.

As a therapist, I support pregnant and postpartum women in making sense of what they’re experiencing, working through difficult thoughts and feelings, and finding ways to navigate this season with more confidence and less overwhelm.

✨ If motherhood feels heavier than you expected, support is available.

📩 Now accepting new clients.

3 years ago today I gave birth to this sweet kid… and on my birthday! I never realized how much I would change in motherhood. Pregnancy surprised me, birth was not what I expected and the first months post partum I could hardly recognize myself. This journey fuels my work everyday. Without the lived experience of post partum anxiety/depression, I don’t think I could effectively support the women and families I see in my practice. Thank you sweet boy for making me a mom. And I thank myself for the patience and grace I finally allowed myself to experience in this transition.

Capability vs. Capacity 🤍

Just because you can do something doesn’t always mean you should — at least not right now.

Capability is your ability.
It’s the skills, knowledge, and strength you have.

Capacity is different.
It’s your energy — mentally, emotionally, physically.

You might be fully capable of showing up, helping others, pushing through, or taking on more…
But if your capacity is low, doing so can come at a cost.

Burnout doesn’t come from lack of capability —
it comes from constantly ignoring your capacity.

So instead of asking:
“What can I do right now?”

Try asking:
“What do I need to restore my capacity?”

Rest.
Boundaries.
Space.
Support.
Time.

Because honoring your capacity isn’t weakness —
it’s wisdom.

You don’t have to do everything just because you’re capable of it. ✨

Postpartum isn’t a race, and it’s not a competition.
It’s a deeply personal, often messy, always valid experience.

If you’ve been comparing your journey to others—this is your reminder to come back to yourself.

You are doing better than you think. 🤍

Deeply personal message about grief while being in the thick of parenthood. How we often have to keep moving even though there is emotional pain running through us. Hope this resonates and normalizes the struggle of being human. ❤️❤️

Blog Post: Grieving in Parenthood is out tomorrow on my website! This post is personal and full of learning. My goal on this platform is normalizing human emotions and showing life’s complexities. None of us are immune to the feelings, some of us could just be better at holding space for the feelings and remembering that the feelings aren’t felt intensely forever. Come back tomorrow for more info on the Blog Post!!!

In our youth, through our parents or lack of parental support, sports, school, peers and experiences we develop “stories” about the world around us and about ourselves. Some are helpful, others are not. The story of “not good enough” for example is a common one. This is often a story we carry into adulthood and it shows up as perfectionism, staying in toxic relationships, anxiety and unhealthy coping skills. These stories we carry can often hold us back from feeling safe, capable, or even happy. If this resonates with you, you’re in the right place! www.taheravpsychotherapy.com

The best lesson I wasn’t expecting to learn during my post partum time was to lean into my son’s schedule. Take his lead on slowing down and leaving the chores that normally would be on the top of my mind for later. I would say to myself, if I were at work right now outside of the home, I wouldn’t be cleaning or doing laundry. My job right now is in the home, spending time with my son. Letting go of the “productivity” that I felt obligated to engage in was hard but worth it. If this feels like it resonates with you, reach out! www.taheravpsychotherapy.com
