💧 Provincial Investment Strengthens Drayton Valley's Water System 💧

Drayton Valley-Devon MLA Andrew Boitchenko was joined by Mayor Dodds along with Town Councillors Colin Clarke, Cody Brooks, CAO Troy Grant and GM of Infrastructure Shelley Terry to announce that the Town of Drayton Valley has received $541,940 in grant funding through the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership (AMWWP) Grant Program for the Water Treatment Plant Distribution Pumps Project.

We would like to thank Minister Devin Dreeshen, Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors, and the Government of Alberta for this important investment in our community's critical infrastructure.

This project will help improve the reliability and resilience of Drayton Valley's water distribution system by transitioning primary pumping operations to the Water Treatment Plant, allowing critical upgrades and maintenance to be completed while strengthening our ability to respond to emergencies.

The project will:
✅ Improve water system reliability
✅ Reduce the risk of service disruptions
✅ Support emergency preparedness
✅ Enhance firefighting capabilities through improved water pressures and flows
✅ Help ensure residents continue to receive safe, dependable drinking water

Mayor Nancy Dodds welcomed the announcement:
“Reliable access to safe drinking water is one of the most important services we provide to our residents. We are grateful to the Government of Alberta for this investment through the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership program, which will help strengthen our water system, support emergency preparedness, and ensure Drayton Valley residents continue to receive dependable water service for years to come.”

The Town is working with ISL Engineering to identify and implement any additional upgrades needed to support Drayton Valley's long-term water supply, maintain fire protection capacity, and improve overall emergency preparedness.
