We’re so excited to launch PRISMA’s new initiative: 17 q T1P2 💚🧡

Every month on the 17th at 12, our community will have the chance to take part in an “Ask a Doctor 👨🏼‍⚕️👩‍⚕️” style conversation about 17q12, where one community question will be answered by a medical professional.

Maybe you’ve wondered about magnesium, autism, kidney health, or other topics related to 17q12. Through 17 q T1P2, we hope to create a space where our community can ask questions and learn together.

For our first answer drop, we randomly selected one of the questions submitted by our community.

Have a question🙋 you’d like us to answer in a future 17 q T1P2? Send it to [email protected] 📩 - we’re happy to answer in many different languages!

Check out the answer on June 17 at 12 PM 🗓️

It’s Mental Health Week in Canada 💚

This year’s theme, Come Together, Canada: Stronger Connections, Better Mental Health, highlights the importance of connection in our everyday lives.

Support from family and loved ones can make a real difference in mental well-being — and sharing the things that matter to us can spark conversations and build meaningful connections.

Through initiatives like “What’s Your Thing?”, people are invited to share what matters to them, creating space for connection, conversation, and understanding.

“Is there a genetic link between autism and sleep problems?” 💤

Lucas’ story shows how sleep can look different for many people on the spectrum — and why understanding it matters.

In the Ask a Doctor section of our latest newsletter, we explore this question and the role genetics can play.

Genetic testing is now part of the standard of care for autism, and about 1 in 3 individuals may have a genetic cause.

Read our latest newsletter (available in Spanish and French) www.precisionmedicineinautism.org/newsletters . Have a question for our next edition? Send us an email — we’d love to hear from you ✨
