How VNG technology helps your recovery:

• Isolates Inner Ear Function: Prevents your eyes from fixating on room objects, exposing subtle involuntary eye movements.

• Pinpoints Vertigo Causes: Identifies the exact ear canal affected by loose calcium crystals in BPPV.

• Objective Tracking: Monitors your progress as balance and visual stability improve over time.

• Tailored 1-on-1 Care: Enables precise repositioning maneuvers right here in the clinic.

You don't have to live with unexplained dizziness. Work with our certified vestibular team to get clear answers.

Why it takes a runner to truly understand a runner 🏃‍♀️👟

When an injury sidelines you, the hardest part isn't just the physical discomfort—it's missing the race you've trained months for, losing your routine, or missing out on the social connection of your group runs.

As a runner herself, physical therapist Elizabeth understands those exact motivators and frustrations firsthand.

How Elizabeth approaches running rehabilitation:

• Understanding the Goal: Whether you run for mental well-being or are training for a specific race distance, your rehab plan is built around your specific targets.

• Structured & Clear Progression: Highly motivated athletes thrive with a clear plan. Elizabeth provides exact guidelines on exercise selection, running volume, and when to safely increase distance.

• Focusing on the "Why": Long-term recovery happens when you understand the root cause of your injury. Elizabeth takes the time to educate you on why certain imbalances occurred and how your custom plan addresses them.

If you're dealing with a running injury or looking to optimize your training block, work with a therapist who gets it.

Manual and Manipulative Therapy involves specialized, clinical hands-on techniques—such as joint mobilizations and manipulations—designed to restore full joint and muscle mobility and to decrease pain. Used for both its diagnostic utility as well as therapeutic benefits, Manual Therapy is one of the most important tools we use to restore mobility and to reduce pain.

When recovering from patellofemoral pain (anterior knee pain), many people wonder if bending the knee forward past the toes will make things worse.

The truth? It depends on your stage of rehab.

When the cartilage and tendon structures behind and around your kneecap (patella) are inflamed or irritable, they can only handle a certain amount of physical load. That’s why a structured, phased approach is essential to getting you back to full activity pain-free:

• Stage 1 (Early Rehab): Imagine placing a physical guide (like a stick or dowel) in front of your foot during lunges or squats to block the knee from translating forward. This keeps the load manageable while still strengthening your leg muscles. Also, lower to a depth that reproduces little to no pain.

• Stage 2 (Progressive Loading): As your tissue tolerance improves and strength returns, we move the guide forward—deliberately allowing the knee to travel past the toes to rebuild long-term tendon and joint durability.

Avoiding knees-over-toes isn't a permanent rule; it’s a temporary stepping stone to help your body adapt safely.

Dealing with stubborn knee pain during squats, lunges, or running? Let our team guide your recovery step-by-step.

Ever feel like your eyes and brain aren’t quite on the same page? 🌀👀

If you’ve experienced a concussion, neck injury, or sudden vestibular event, even simple tasks like reading a screen, walking through a busy store, or turning your head quickly can trigger dizziness and visual disturbances.

This happens because your visual and balance systems have lost their synchronization. The good news? Your visual system can be retrained.

Tools like the Brock String (shown in the photo!) allow us to assess and train how your eyes converge, track, and align together. By incorporating targeted visual exercises into your customized Vestibular Rehabilitation program, we help eliminate the root causes of motion sensitivity and spatial disorientation.

When you work with Elevation Physiotherapy, you always get one-on-one care exclusively with your physical therapist—no assistants, no rushed care—so every exercise is tailored to your exact recovery pace.

Ready to clear the fog and regain your steady footing? Call to book an appointment with one of our Vestibular and Concussion Physiotherapists today!

Feeling tension or headaches after a long day in front of screens? 💻👀

Staring at a screen for extended periods forces the tiny muscles inside your eyes to work overtime. Over the course of a workday, this constant close-up focus causes those muscles to tighten, leading to eye strain and that all-too-familiar tension wrapping around your head.

Here are a few practical ways to protect your eyes:

✅ Take Regular Micro-Breaks: Every 20 minutes or so, look away from your screen at an object far off in the distance for 20 seconds. This allows your eye muscles to relax.

✅ Optimize Your Visual Setup: Don't squint! Increase font sizes on your devices and adjust screen brightness so your eyes don't have to strain to read.

✅ Check In With Your Optometrist: Ask your eye care specialist if eye drops or other support options are right for you.

Important: While eye strain is common, severe headaches accompanied by nausea, weakness, or confusion require immediate medical evaluation by a physician.

If chronic headaches, eye fatigue, or dizziness are affecting your day, our physical therapy team is here to evaluate your neck, desk ergonomics and vestibular system.

It’s been a difficult season. And time off has been rare. I’ve heard so much about Mt Coliseum from my patients and it was time to re-set my soul.

Thank you to all my patients who have shared their running journeys with me. There isn’t enough days for me to run the world as you have. But each time I do, I run and hike in your footsteps!
